Panthers RBs Chuba Hubbard and Rico Dowdle split touches throughout the team’s win over the Los Angeles Rams, but Hubbard outproduced Dowdle. Hubbard went 17-83-0 on the ground and 2-41-1 through the air. Dowdle went 18-58-0 on the ground and 2-21-0 through the air. Hubbard also outsnapped Dowdle 38 to 27 with Hubbard running 15 routes to Dowdle’s 6. This could make both only borderline starts moving forward despite the heavy lean on the run game.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
The Panthers RBs totaled 40 touches in their win over the Los Angeles Rams.
Rico Dowdle led the unit with 18 carries and 2 receptions (50%) with Chuba Hubbard lagging behind with 17 carries and 2 receptions (47.5%). Trevor Etienne made up the final touch on a reception.
Hubbard looked fully healthy showcasing the old burst that led to production last season. His TD was thanks to explosiveness after the catch and some nice blocking.
Dowdle struggled to break tackles, especially on missed blocks. He also seemed to be chosen for some of the shorter drives for the Panthers.
This type of 50/50 split makes both risky week to week starts. The Panthers could ride the hot hand or continue to split drives, making you subject to the whims of the Panthers’ offense to get fantasy production.
The Panthers are on bye next week and don’t have a positive RB match-up throughout the fantasy playoffs. That makes both RB3s moving forward as potential flex plays hoping for a TD.
