Ashton Dulin Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Colts WRs Josh Downs (concussion) and Ashton Dulin (chest) are out for Sunday’s game vs. the Chargers. Michael Pittman and Alec Pierce will continue to operate as the top two WRs, but the Colts might now be forced to rely on WR Adonai Mitchell in a significant role. Anthony Gould is the only other WR on the active roster. Laquon Treadwell is on the practice squad.

Colts WR Josh Downs is in the concussion protocol and did not practice on Wednesday. He never left last week's game but must have started having symptoms afterward. Downs is now unlikely to play vs. the Chargers on Sunday. WR Ashton Dulin also missed Wednesday's practice with a chest injury. If he and Downs miss Week 7, the Colts would likely be forced to rely on WR Adonai Mitchell, who's been banished to the bench since dropping the ball at the goal line back in Week 4. Michael Pittman is the only Colts WR that belongs in fantasy lineups this week.

We learned ahead of Sunday's game that Colts WR Adonai Mitchell would play a limited role against the Raiders after marring his Week 4 opportunity with multiple stupid mistakes. That proved true, as Mitchell played just six snaps and ran two routes against the Raiders. He ranked fifth in playing time among Colts WRs, even with Alex Pierce still out. Ashton Dulin got the group's biggest boost, matching Michael Pittman Jr.'s team-high 27 routes, according to Pro Football Focus. Josh Downs trailed narrowly at 23 routes.

Colts WR Adonai Mitchell will play but have a "limited role" against the Raiders today, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Mitchell was a full-timer with WR Alec Pierce out last week, but he fumbled as he was going into the end zone and committed a holding penalty that negated a long Jonathan Taylor TD run. So his role will be scaled back today. Fowler adds that WR Ashton Dulin could see more work. And could we actually see WR Josh Downs play in some two-WR sets? We'll believe it when we see it, but the Mitchell situation adds some upside to Downs' Week 5 profile.

Colts WR Michael Pittman was added to the injury report and limited in practice on Thursday with a hamstring. That likely means he hurt the hammy today -- and puts his status for Sunday's game vs. the Raiders in question. Indianapolis is getting WR Alec Pierce back from his concussion this week. Pittman would typically be replaced by WR Adonai Mitchell, but Mitchell gave up the ball at the goal line and committed a costly holding penalty last week. It's unclear if the Colts would go back to him in a full-time role. The other options would be WR Ashton Dulin -- or using WR Josh Downs in 2-WR sets. We'll update Pittman's status tomorrow.

Colts WR Alec Pierce (foot) is listed as questionable for this weekend's game vs. the Patriots. He missed the first two practices of the week but returned to a full workout on Friday. That should have him on track to play on Sunday, but we'll get Indianapolis' inactives around 11:30 am ET. WRs Josh Downs (shoulder) and Ashton Dulin (ankle) are both out, which will mean a big boost in playing time for WR Adonai Mitchell.

Colts WR Alec Pierce (foot) did not practice on Wednesday. We don't have any details on his foot injury. WR Josh Downs (shoulder) is not expected to play vs. the Patriots this weekend, while WR Ashton Dulin (ankle) also missed Wednesday's practice. That leaves Michael Pittman, Adonai Mitchell, and Anthony Gould as the three healthy WRs on Indianapolis' active roster.

Colts WR Josh Downs (toe) remained sidelined for Thursday's practice. He's seemingly in legitimate danger of missing this weekend's game vs. the Titans. That'd leave Indianapolis without its top two WRs in Downs and Michael Pittman. Alec Pierce, Adonai Mitchell, and Ashton Dulin would be left as the team's top three WRs. We'll update Downs' status again tomorrow.

Colts HC Frank Reich talked up WR Ashton Dulin's role on offense this season. “I cannot emphasize how strongly we feel about Ashton Dulin," Reich said. "He’s going to play a role in this offense. He’s proven it and he’s earned it. He’s going to have to continue to prove it to earn it, but this guy has toughness, the smarts, he plays all the positions, he knows what to do, he’s a competitor, it’s not too big for him, he’s a playmaker. We love him. We are all planning on him making a significant contribution, not only on special teams, but on offense, too.” Dulin went undrafted back in 2019 and has just 18 catches through 3 NFL seasons. So we're not ready to call him a fantasy-draft target just yet. But he's on our radar for the rest of training camp and preseason action.
