Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Hall was the clear winner in the Jets’ backfield despite offseason buzz for Braelon Allen. Hall played 37 snaps to Allen’s 20, giving him 57.8% of the workload. He also ran eight routes to Allen’s three. Hall rushed 19 times for 107 yards and caught two of four targets for 38 yards.
Jets G Alijah Vera-Tucker will undergo season-ending surgery to repair a torn tricep, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. It's a big loss for a Jets team that wants to lean on the run this year. Vera-Tucker ranked 12th among 66 qualifying Gs in both Pro Football Focus run- and pass-blocking grades. last season. We'll see how New York reshuffles the offensive line, with veterans Joe Tippmann, Josh Myers, and Chuks Okorafor candidates to replace Vera-Tucker. But this is a concern for QB Justin Fields, WR Garrett Wilson, and the Jets RBs.
The Athletic's Zack Rosenblatt's "bold prediction" for the Jets' 2025 season is that RB Braelon Allen leads the team in rushing. "There’s an assumption that Breece Hall is the Jets’ top running back but when the games start and Aaron Glenn and Tanner Engstrand start divvying up the carries, I truly think at some point (perhaps early) Allen will become the predominant ball carrier in the running back room," Rosenblatt writes.
Jets’ third-string RB Isaiah Davis hasn’t practiced in two weeks as he recovers from an ankle injury, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.
According to The Athletic's Zack Rosenblatt, Jets HC Aaron Glenn is counting on a very productive year from RB Breece Hall, particularly as a receiver. The Jets backfield has sparked debates in fantasy circles, with reports ranging from a potential committee to Hall being the clear lead.
The Athletic's Zack Rosenblatt believes the Jets backfield "might be more 1A-1B than 1-2," referring to RBs Breece Hall and Braelon Allen. "This isn’t so much a knock on Hall as it is praise for Allen: The Jets are going to have a hard time keeping Allen off the field in 2025," Rosenblatt writes.
Jets RB Breece Hall expects to be a big part of a run-heavy offense under new OC Tanner Engstrand. "I know Tanner loves to run the ball," Hall said. "For me, just getting ready for that. He also knows how I can be effective in the pass game. He and [HC Aaron Glenn] always tell me: Breece, you’re going to do everything. So for me it’s just getting ready to do everything. I have to be ready to be a three-down back.”
Jets RB Breece Hall disappointed fantasy managers in 2024, going from mid-Round 1 pick to just 17th among RBs in PPR points per game. Does a new coaching staff provide hope ... or should we simply lower our expectations for Hall?
The Jets are hiring Tanner Engstrand as their OC under HC Aaron Glenn, insider Jordan Schultz reports. Engstrand has been with Detroit since 2020, working his way up from offensive assistant in 2020 and 2021 to passing game coordinator under OC Ben Johnson for the last three seasons. Engstrand started his career at the University of San Diego in 2005. His only OC experience came with the UFL's DC Defenders in 2020. That squad ranked fifth in the eight-team league in both yards and points. We'll see what Engstrand learned in Detroit over the past five years, but he's largely a mystery when it comes to what he'll mean for the Jets' offense in 2025.
The Jets are hiring Aaron Glenn as their new HC, according to multiple reports. It's a homecoming for Glenn, who was the Jets' first-round pick back in 1994. He played eight seasons with the team, earning two Pro Bowl nods. Glenn played through the 2008 season and took his first coaching job in 2014. He was a DBs coach for the Browns and Saints before taking over as Lions DC in 2021. Detroit climbed from 31st in points allowed in Glenn's first season to seventh this past year, despite a ton of injuries. We'll see who Glenn chooses to run his offense. We've heard current Lions QBs coach Mark Brunell mentioned as a candidate. Of course, the biggest question in New York is whether QB Aaron Rodgers will return for the 2025 season. Stay tuned.
The forecast for today's Jets-Bills game calls for a 45-60% chance of rain throughout the contest with sustained winds of 15 mph and gusts around 30 mph. They're far from ideal conditions but shouldn't kill either passing game. The game still has a 44.5-point over/under, with the Bills implied for 27.25 points. We're not adjusting our projections for this one.
Jets RB Braelon Allen (back) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Rams. He put in a full practice on Friday, so he should play. RB Breece Hall was never listed on this week’s injury report, though, suggesting that he’s ready for a bigger workload. Allen isn’t a fantasy option.
Jets RB Braelon Allen is questionable to return to Sunday's game vs. the Jaguars with a back injury. His absence leaves the backfield to Breece Hall and Isaiah Davis.
Update: Allen returned in the third quarter.
Jets RB Breece Hall (knee) is active for today’s game vs. the Jaguars. He was listed as questionable but was a full-go in Friday’s practice. And there was optimism about his status throughout the weekend. We’d still be surprised if Hall handled his normal workload for a Jets team with nothing to play for. Remember that Hall tallied just 12 carries and one target playing through this knee injury back in Week 13. He checks in as a low-end RB2 in the Week 15 Rankings.
