Jaylin Lane Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Commanders WR Deebo Samuel managed just 4 receptions for 15 yards in Monday night's loss to the Bears. That's not a surprising development after he managed just one limited practice on an injured heel and entered the game questionable. But it's worth noting that he played near his normal amount. The 72.3% snap share marked his second-lowest of the season but one of three games he's had in the 70s. Samuel's five targets tied for second on the team, trailing only TE Zach Ertz. Chris Moore (3-46-1 receiving) and Luke McCaffrey (1-33-1) joined Ertz in snagging TDs from Jayden Daniels.

Commanders WRs Terry McLaurin (quad) and Noah Brown (groin, knee) are out for Monday night's game vs. the Bears. HC Dan Quinn said early this week that he was "optimistic" about McLaurin's availability for this one, but he ended up missing all three practices. He remains without a concrete timetable for return. WR Chris Moore, Luke McCaffrey, and Jaylin Lane will continue to rotate behind Deebo Samuel vs. Chicago.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that WR Terry McLaurin has been ruled OUT for Week 5. McLaurin, WR Noah Brown, and G Sam Cosmi will not travel to Los Angeles to face the Chargers.

Commanders WR Terry McLaurin (quad) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Falcons. He sought multiple opinions on his injury this week and won’t need surgery "at this point," NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo said Thursday. We’ll see if McLaurin can make it back for Week 5. His absence on Sunday will mean more snaps for WRs Chris Moore, Jaylin Lane, and Luke McCaffrey, but none is a bankable fantasy play.

Commanders WR Terry McLaurin (quad) is "very much in doubt" for Sunday's game against the Falcons, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "Would not be surprised at all if he missed the game," Rapoport adds. McLaurin is still seeking additional opinions on his injury, including from core-muscle expect Dr. William Meyers. "As of now, they believe it's a quad injury. But more tests coming," Rapoport says. We'll look for further details on McLaurin's injury, but he seems unlikely at this point to be ready by Sunday.

Commanders WR Noah Brown (groin) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Raiders. His absence should mean more snaps for WR Jaylin Lane, but the rookie is not a viable Week 3 fantasy play.

Commanders HC Dan Quinn called WR Noah Brown (groin) a "long shot" to play against the Raiders this weekend. Brown was knocked out of the Thursday night loss to the Packers and could be looking at a multi-game absence. Rookie WR Jaylin Lane is the favorite to pick up Brown's snaps. He's not a viable Week 3 fantasy play but could be worth stashing in fantasy leagues with deep benches.

Commanders WR Noah Brown was knocked out of Thursday night's game vs. the Packers with a groin injury. He was primarily replaced by rookie Jaylin Lane, who registered a 52% route rate but finished with just one catch on two targets for 11 yards. We'll look for an update on Brown's injury. If he's going to miss significant time, Lane could be worth adding in deeper fantasy leagues.

The Commanders selected Virginia Tech WR Jaylin Lane with the 128th pick of Round 4 in the 2025 NFL Draft. Lane spent the last three seasons at Virginia Tech, used in a variety of ways: rushing, punt returns, and in the screen game. Lane offers 4.3 speed as a potential weapon at the next level. He started his career as the top returner and receiver at Middle Tennessee, leading them in receiving as a true freshman. He had a 9.56 Relative Athletic Score (RAS) based on his predraft testing. He also ranked 33rd among Combine WRs in 2024 Target Share at 17.3%, and 38th among those WRs in PFF Receiving Grade with a 69.3. He is currently 23 years old with a Breakout Age of 21.4. He ranked 22nd among WRs in our Draft Sharks predraft Rookie Model scoring a 6.06. Our Comp for him in our Rookie Guide is Marquise Goodwin. He’s experienced with great speed and change of direction but likely ends up as more of a gadget /special teams player than fantasy difference-maker.
