Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Texans RB Dameon Pierce (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game vs. the Bucs. That leaves Houston with RBs Devin Singletary, Mike Boone, and Dare Ogunbowale. Singletary should handle the majority of the work, bumping him up to low-end RB2 status for Week 9.
Broncos HC Nathaniel Hackett admitted Monday that "it doesn't look good" for RB Mike Boone to play again this season after going down with an ankle injury in the loss to the Chiefs. That'll leave Denver's backfield to Latavius Murray and Marlon Mack the rest of the way. Murray tallied 8 carries and 5 targets to Mack's 3 carries and 3 targets vs. Kansas City.
Broncos RB Mike Boone suffered a right leg injury in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Chiefs and had to be carted off the field. We'll update his status when we know more, but Boone's day is obviously over.
Broncos RB Latavius Murray managed only 47 yards on 17 carries (2.8 per rush) in Sunday's loss to the Ravens. He added 14 yards on 4 catches, tying for 2nd on the team in receptions and targets (4). RB Mike Boone returned from IR to handle 6 carries for 18 yards and catch his only target for 8 more. Next week brings the Chiefs to town on Sunday night.
Broncos RB Mike Boone (ankle) is active for today’s game vs. the Ravens. It’ll be his first action since Week 7. Boone isn’t a viable fantasy play but could steal targets from RB Latavius Murray.
Broncos RB Mike Boone (ankle) has been activated from IR, putting him on track to return for Sunday's game vs. the Ravens. Boone totaled 7 targets in his 2 healthy games without RB Javonte Williams earlier this season and figures to slide back into a pass-catching role. He's not a viable Week 13 fantasy option but does ding RB Latavius Murray's already unexciting fantasy outlook.
The Broncos have designated RB Mike Boone (ankle) to return from IR. That allows him to practice and gives the team 3 weeks to decide whether to activate him. We'll see how soon he can return to a backfield currently controlled by Latavius Murray.
Broncos RB Chase Edmonds suffered a high-ankle sprain in Sunday's loss to the Raiders and is expected to miss "multiple weeks," according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Edmonds can be dropped from all redraft rosters. The news makes RB Melvin Gordon's release even more surprising. Denver is down to RBs Latavius Murray and Marlon Mack for now. RB Devine Ozigbo is on the practice squad; RB Mike Boone is eligible to come off IR for Week 13.
The Broncos have waived RB Melvin Gordon. The move comes after Gordon committed another costly fumble in the 1st half of Sunday's OT loss to the Raiders. That leaves Denver with Latavius Murray and Marlon Mack as potentially the only healthy RBs heading into Week 12. Chase Edmonds left Sunday's game early, and Mike Boone has at least 1 more game on IR. We'll see about the status of those 2 RBs over the next week and a half. And we'll also see whether Denver adds another competitor.
The Broncos placed RB Mike Boone (ankle) on IR. As a result, the team signed veteran RB Marlon Mack to the practice squad. For now, they’ll move forward with a 1-2 punch of Melvin Gordon and Latavius Murray. Gordon out-carried Murray 11-8 in Week 7.
The Broncos are signing RB Marlon Mack off the 49ers' practice squad. Per 9News' Mike Klis, the team hopes to get Mack to Denver in time for this afternoon's flight to London. The move suggests that RB Mike Boone will miss at least Sunday's game vs. Jacksonville with his ankle injury. Don't expect Mack to see much action, though, behind RBs Melvin Gordon and Latavius Murray.
Broncos RB Mike Boone injured his right ankle in Sunday's loss to the Jets. He was in a walking boot and using a crutch afterward, according to the Denver Post's Parker Gabriel. X-rays on the ankle came back clean, but Boone is scheduled for more testing on Monday.
Broncos RB Melvin Gordon started and led the backfield in playing time in Sunday's loss to the Jets. He played 9 more snaps than Latavius Murray, running 12 more routes and logging 3 more carries. Each player averaged just 3.0 yards per carry, with Gordon going 11-33 and Murray 8-24. Murray ran for the team's only TD. Each guy also supplied 2 catches. Gordon took his for 17 yards, while Murray's catches went for 1 and minus-2 yards. Mike Boone contributed 23 yards on 4 carries before leaving with an ankle injury. Expect all 3 backs to remain outside the top 24 of our RB rankings for a Week 8 matchup at Jacksonville. Missing Boone would help the outlooks for the other 2.
Broncos HC Nathaniel Hackett said Wednesday that RB Melvin Gordon will start this weekend's game vs. the Jets. The 2 had a conversation about Gordon's role on Tuesday after he played just 9 snaps in the loss to the Chargers. Of course, starting the game only means that he'll be out there for the 1st snap. It doesn't tell us anything about how the work will be divvied between Gordon, Latavius Murray and Mike Boone. Still, it wouldn't be shocking to see Gordon lead the backfield in Week 7. Ultimately, it's a situation to try to avoid in fantasy lineups this week.
Broncos RB Melvin Gordon surprisingly finished Week 6 with only 3 carries for 8 yards. All of that came in the first half. Gordon said afterwords that he was fine physically, despite entering as questionable with rib/neck injuries. “It was a close game,” Gordon said after the loss. “I felt like I could've helped make a difference, but apparently not.” Latavius Murray led the backfield with 15 carries for 66 yards. Mike Boone mixed in for 4 targets, while Gordon didn’t see any. We'll see what type of chatter we hear about this backfield over the next few days. But all 3 RBs will be volatile plays this week against a surging Jets defense.
Broncos RB Melvin Gordon (neck, ribs) is active for tonight's game vs. the Chargers. He was listed as questionable, but there never seemed to be any doubt about his availability for this one. Gordon should get 1st crack at leading the backfield tonight, but we'll see how much RBs Mike Boone and Latavius Murray mix in.
Broncos RB Melvin Gordon (neck, ribs) was limited in practice all week and is listed as questionable for Monday night's game vs. the Chargers. We haven't heard any concern about his availability for this one, but the injuries add some risk to his Week 6 fantasy profile. RBs Mike Boone and Latavius Murray figure to be active alongside Gordon on Monday.
