Drew Allar Shines in NFL Debut But Still a Long Climb to Relevancy

Steelers QB Drew Allar shone in his preseason debut, completing 10 of 13 passes for 153 yards and 2 TDs. He also ran for an additional TD. The rookie third-round pick was selected based on his physical traits and showcased a strong arm against the Packers last night. He will likely spend his rookie season as the No. 3 QB on the roster behind Aaron Rodgers and Mason Rudolph, but Allar could put together enough impressive moments to compete for the starting job in 2027.

Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers (wrist) won't play vs. the Bears today, HC Mike Tomlin said. Rodgers was pushing to play but didn't get the green light from the team. We're expecting him back for Week 13. QB Mason Rudolph gets the start today. He's just a low-end QB2 in fantasy lineups, but we're not considering him a significant downgrade from Rodgers. We could see Pittsburgh run it a bit more today with Rodgers sidelined.

Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers' status for today's game vs. the Bears remains up in the air. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Rodgers is "pushing to play" but that the team has been "more cautious and guarded." This is shaping up as a game-time decision. We'll get Pittsburgh's inactives 11:30 am ET. Neither Rodgers nor backup QB Mason Rudolph are in play in 1-QB fantasy leagues -- and the QB call won't have a big impact on our projections for Pittsburgh's skill-position players.

Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers (wrist) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Bears. He got in limited practices on Thursday and Friday with a brace on that fractured left wrist. "We’ll see where the weekend leads us,” HC Mike Tomlin said Friday. We’re sure to get plenty of updates on Rodgers between now and kickoff on Sunday. QB Mason Rudolph will start if Rodgers can’t.

Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers will not need surgery on his broken left wrist, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. HC Mike Tomlin, meanwhile, said that Rodgers will not practice on Wednesday and will likely test that wrist on Friday. It sounds like we won't get a good update on Rodgers until then, but he seemingly has a real chance to play against the Bears this weekend.
