Add a league for Mock Drafting, Draft War Room & In-season sync
Broncos HC Sean Payton named QB Bo Nix his starting QB on Wednesday. This was the most likely scenario when Denver took Nix with the 12th overall pick of this spring's draft. Nix bolstered his case with two strong preseason outings, completing 76.7% of his passes at 7.0 yards per attempt with two TDs and zero INTs.
Nix being under center come Week 1 -- and likely for the entire season -- at least gives him value in superflex leagues.
He has a tough path to relevancy in 1-QB leagues as a rookie with a subpar pass-catching corps. But Nix has been impressive this preseason and has some rushing upside. Nix scored 38 rushing TDs over five college seasons and has carried six times for 29 yards this preseason.
If he can produce 20-25 rushing yards per game, Nix could find his way onto the radar in 1-QB leagues as a spot-start or bye-week option.
That Nix has had a strong summer and won this starting job is good news for Denver's skill-position players considering the alternatives were Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson.
It's worth noting, though, that the Broncos are still implied for the league's second-fewest points.
