Packers WR Romeo Doubs’ frame and starting role appears to have him set to be the main receiver target in the red zone. Last season, Doubs and WR Jayden Reed tied with 17 red-zone targets each. Speculation has Doubs’ red zone targets increasing this year.
Matt Schneidman of The Athletic: "I bet it will be Romeo Doubs. Not only does he have perhaps the frame most apt for winning 50-50 balls, but he probably has the best hands on the team. Doubs tied for second in the NFL in red zone touchdown catches last year, behind only the Denver Broncos’ Courtland Sutton. Jayden Reed got plenty of red zone work, too, and he and Doubs each got 17 red zone targets. But in a got-to-have-it situation inside the 20-yard line, I’m trusting Doubs.”
The Packers receiving situation is crowded with Doubs, Reed and WRs Christian Watson, Dontayvion Wicks, and Bo Melton along with TEs Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft.
All of these options could receive red zone targets, but Schneidman speculates that Doubs' frame and consistency should earn him more trust in the red zone from QB Jordan Love.
Identifying which Packers receiving threat will break out could be the key to winning your fantasy league. Though Doubs is the most unexciting of the group, his consistency should make him a solid bench WR.
