Vikings QB Sam Darnold was 19/24 for 208 yards including two TDs and an INT. He also added three yards on three rushes in the Vikings dominant 28-6 win over the Giants. He threw the touchdowns to WR Justin Jefferson and WR Jalen Nailor in the game.
Darnold came into the season with little expectations but in HC Kevin O'Connell's offense, he was able to push an early lead on the Giants and never look back.
He hit Jefferson in the second quarter with a 3-yard td and Nailor in the third quarter with a 21-yard TD.
The run game helped support Darnold with Aaron Jones rushing for a TD in the first quarter. 5 of Darnold's 19 completions went to RBs as well, helping keep Darnold in rhythm.
Next week, the Vikings take on the San Francisco 49ers who have a dominant run defense and pass rush. It would be a much tougher game for Darnold, but the 49ers did show some weakness in the secondary last year. If he can come through with a solid fantasy performance in that game, Darnold could be one of the favorites for those streaming QBs.
Overall, a solid performance to start the year for the veteran.
