Rams RB Kyren Williams popped off for 3 total TDs in Sunday’s win over the 49ers. He saw 24 carries but managed just 3.7 yards per attempt behind a depleted O-line.
What They're Saying
Here’s HC Sean McVay commenting on Williams’ receiving TD, which culminated in a front flip into the end zone.
“We haven’t gotten to use him as a pass catcher enough,” McVay noted. “I thought he did a great job of breaking off man coverage and then be able to have the swag to flip in was pretty cool.”
Here’s Williams on the impressive day.
“Obviously there was a sense of urgency to this week about our preparation and the mentality of what we were going to do and how we were going to play. But I think it was something that was kind of unspoken, something that we knew we had to do. An 0-3 start is not good. We prepared this week to make sure that didn’t happen.”
The Rams now head to Chicago for a 1:00 ET kickoff on Sunday.
2024 Fantasy Football Impact
Despite a thinned-out supporting cast, Williams came through on massive volume. He hit 26 touches -- a number the 24-year-old reached only three times in 2023.
Interestingly, Blake Corum remained a spectator. Ronnie Rivers was the only other Rams RB with a carry or target (2 carries, 9 yards).
So even if Williams misses time with an injury, it’s hard to see Corum stepping into the same role. He’s OK to drop in 10-team formats.
As for Williams, he’ll remain a must-start fantasy asset as long as his workloads remain strong. He’s now scored in six of his past seven games going back to 2023.
