Joe Mixon Uncertain For Week 6

Texans HC Demeco Ryans said Monday that RB Joe Mixon (ankle) is "definitely improving" but wouldn't say whether Mixon will be back for this weekend's game vs. the Patriots. Mixon returned to Friday's practice ahead of Week 4 but did not practice at all this past week, so it looks like he suffered a setback.

What They're Saying

The full quote from Ryans: "For Joe and his injury, we’ll still evaluate week-to-week. We don’t know as of right now, I can’t give you that answer. But we’ll see how Joe improves over the week. He’s definitely been improving, week to week he’s been improving… We’ll see where he is as the week goes on.”

2024 Fantasy Football Impact

We'll see if Mixon gets back on the practice field this week. But, at least for now, fantasy owners should not be counting on him in Week 6 lineups.

RBs Cam Akers and Dare Ogunbowale split backfield work in the Week 5 win over the Bills. If RB Dameon Pierce returns from his hamstring injury for Sunday's game vs. the Patriots, this will be a backfield to avoid.
