Former Jets WR Mike Williams has been traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a 2025 Fifth Round pick. Williams was signed to the Jets as a free agent, but lost playing time to Allen Lazard. He was then buried after miscommunications with QB Aaron Rodgers and the Jets trading for WR Davante Adams. He should slot in as the WR2 for the Steelers.
Adam Schefter of ESPN: "Another trade: Pittsburgh is trading a 2025 fifth-round pick to the Jets for WR Mike Williams, per source."
Williams had a visit scheduled with the Steelers when he was a free agent this offseason, but signed with the Jets before that visit.
The Steelers have been trying to acquire a WR throughout the year including near deals for Brandon Aiyuk and Christian Kirk, but they settle for the 30-year old coming off of an ACL tear.
But the Steelers WR room is barren with Van Jefferson and Calvin Austin getting looks as the WR2 on the team, so Williams should easily be able to move up the depth chart when he is acclimated.
QB Russell Wilson breathed some new life to the offense, but they are still a run first team that will struggle to score against potent defenses.
Williams could be worth a bench stash if he was dropped, but it is unlikely he becomes a comfortable start at any point this season.
A loaded supporting cast, improved QB play, and offensive continuity set the stage for Atlanta to deliver serious fantasy value in 2025.
