Patriots RB Rhamondre Stevenson started Saturday’s blowout loss to the Chargers. But Antonio Gibson led the backfield with 12 carries for 63 yards. Meanwhile, Stevenson mustered only 2 rushes for 1 yard.

After HC Jerod Mayo signaled a potential backfield shift, we saw that come to fruition on Saturday. Gibson beat Stevenson in carries, snaps (29 to 24), and targets (2 to 0). Stevenson held the slight edge in routes (15 to 13).
We’d expect Gibson to lead this backfield again in Week 18. The Pats face a Bills defense that might be in a position to rest some starters.
