New Texans RB Nick Chubb has taken part in minicamp practices. Recall that Chubb’s 2024 season ended with a broken left foot in Week 15.
What They're Saying
Here's Texans insider Aaron Wilson on his early observations of Chubb:
“I saw a burst…I saw some explosiveness on a couple of plays. I can tell he’s in good shape. He’s a bigger back. He’s a downhill guy…I would say he’s still working his way back from the foot. But no noticeable discomfort. [He] was able to plant, cut…looked good to me. I would say that Nick Chubb has a good chance to help this team. They’re [the Texans] impressed with him.”
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Wilson's report is certainly a positive one. Still, it doesn’t guarantee 2025 fantasy value.
First, Chubb will have to prove he’s healthy. Since playing 17 games in 2022, he's appeared in 10 total games over the past two seasons.
Then, there's the backfield role. Joe Mixon is entrenched as the starter for new OC Nick Caley. Houston also spent a Round 3 pick on pass-catching RB Woody Marks. If Mixon misses time, Chubb would likely work in a timeshare with the rookie.
That two-down ceiling leaves the former Brown as a late-round fantasy flier.
