Colts QB Anthony Richardson has generated more buzz than QB Daniel Jones in training camp so far. But The Athletic's Zak Keefer believes the race is "neck and neck" right now. Richardson has shown improvement on short and intermediate passes, but snap-to-snap consistency has remained an issue.
What They're Saying
Steichen on Richardson: “I think everything’s cleaner right now. He’s playing at a high level. He’s making good decisions with the football, taking the completions when needed. It’s been really good to see.”
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
If Richardson plays Jones to a draw in August, it'd make sense for the Colts to give him the Week 1 nod. This battle might not be decided until we get through the preseason. But we're now projecting Richardson to start the opener.
We ultimately still expect both QBs to start plenty of games this season. But Richardson is climbing the QB rankings and is the better late-round flier in both best ball and redraft.
Other Winners & Losers
As we've discussed throughout the offseason, all of Indianapolis' skill-position players take a hit with Richardson under center. Even if Richardson is an improved passer -- and he'll need to be to win the starting job -- he means fewer pass attempts and rush attempts to go around for everyone else.
Here's how RB Jonathan Taylor and WRs Josh Downs and Michael Pittman fared in PPR points per game with and without Richardson last year:
