According to The Athletic's Zack Rosenblatt, Jets HC Aaron Glenn is counting on a very productive year from RB Breece Hall, particularly as a receiver. The Jets backfield has sparked debates in fantasy circles, with reports ranging from a potential committee to Hall being the clear lead.
What They're Saying
Glenn, per Rosenblatt: "You’re gonna see a guy that's really going to turn it up a notch. ... He’s a guy you can split out wide and run a route tree.”
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Earlier in the offseason, Glenn talked about the idea of all three RBs being involved this season. Recently, RB Braelon Allen has generated some buzz, hinting towards the idea that this could be more of a 1A, 1B situation alongside Hall.
Hall easily projects as the best pass-catching option in this backfield, which is seemingly where Glenn sees the fourth-year RB making a notable impact. Last season, Hall ran 38 routes out wide, and 37 the year before, so operating on the perimeter certainly wouldn’t be uncharted territory.
Perhaps more carries go to Allen in his sophomore season, but if Hall sees an uptick in pass game usage, that could certainly make up for it. Hall was targeted on 15.8% of his routes when out wide last year, but that was while playing alongside WRs Davante Adams and Garrett Wilson.
Heading into 2025, Wilson is entrenched as the clear No. 1 WR, but the No. 2 spot is up for grabs -- not just for the actual WRs, but Hall, too. It's entirely possible that Hall finishes second on the team in receptions this season, making him especially enticing in PPR formats. QB Justin Fields will certainly take shots down the field, but he also quietly ranked third among qualified signal callers in checkdown rate a season ago (17.3%).
Hall is one of the more polarizing players coming off draft boards in the third round. He checks in as the RB13 in our rankings.
