Texans GM Nick Caserio wouldn't say Wednesday whether RB Joe Mixon (foot/ankle) will play at all this year. "We'll see, we'll take it one day at a time," Caserio said. Mixon will miss at least the first four games of the season on the reserve/non-football injury list. "Once we get through four weeks, we'll evaluate it at that time," Caserio added.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
There have been precious few details on Mixon's injury or timeline for return. But the vibes from the little information we've gotten have not been good.
At this point, fantasy players should expect Mixon to miss more than just four games. And, as Caserio alluded to, it's possible that Mixon doesn't play at all this year.
He should only be considered as a bench stash in the double-digit rounds of fantasy drafts.
Other Winners & Losers
Houston will head into Week 1 with five RBs on the 53-man roster:
- Nick Chubb
- Dameon Pierce
- Woody Marks
- Dare Ogunbowale
- British Brooks
Chubb looks like the lead early-down back for now, but he could cede some of that work to Pierce. Marks and Ogunbowale figure to handle most of the passing-down work.
It's a situation to avoid in Week 1 fantasy lineups. Chubb, Pierce, and Marks are all worth looks as bench stashes near the end of fantasy drafts.
