Rams OC Mike LaFleur said Wednesday that he'd like to divvy up the work more this season between RBs Kyren Williams and Blake Corum. "It benefits everyone to make sure that you’re not just wearing someone down or overusing somebody," LaFleur said. "The plan is to split those up a little bit and distribute, whether it’s the run or the pass game, and making sure people are involved within the scheme."
What They're Saying
LaFleur on Corum: “I think he’s doing what you’d hope a second-year guy would do, steps in the right direction, understanding just the speed of this game and what it’s going to take to play running back. He’s made of all the right stuff. He’s done everything we’ve asked of him, not that we even have to ask too much of him because he’s wired the right way. I thought he had a good preseason. Obviously, we left him out of that third game right there. He’s had a really good training camp. He’ll get his opportunities come Week 1.”
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
This isn't the first time we've heard this out of Rams camp this offseason. GM Les Snead talked back in May about wanting more of a committee backfield going forward.
Williams could afford to lose a little work. He led all RBs in both snap share (86%) and rush-attempt share (74%) last season.
That said, Williams needs that work. He's never been an especially efficient runner or a high-volume pass catcher. So losing 10-15% of his carries would be significant.
We currently project Williams for a 65% share of Rams carries this season, which lands him 13th in the PPR RB rankings. He could slide into mid- or low-end RB2 territory if his carry share dips closer to 60%, though.
We'll be monitoring closely when the Rams kick off their season against the Texans next weekend.
Other Winners & Losers
Corum has appeared to be ahead of rookie RB Jarquez Hunter all summer, including in the preseason. LaFleur's comments confirm that.
Corum is still a longshot for standalone fantasy value, but he's the Williams handcuff to stash.
