Try Not to Worry About Dak Prescott's Rough Night

        Dak Prescott Headshot

Cowboys QB Dak Prescott managed just 188 yards on 21-of-34 passing in Thursday night's loss to the Eagles. He threw no TD passes or INTs and took no sacks against a Philly defense that lost DT Jalen Carter to a first-quarter ejection. Prescott started fine, going 12-of-17 for 127 yards in the first half. But the second half found a mere 9-of-18 for 61 more yards, with the QB getting little help -- especially late.

        What They're Saying

CeeDee Lamb: "Man, that was terrible. I can't point fingers at anybody else. I take full accountability and everything else that comes with that. As a player, I've prayed for moments like that, and for the ball to come my way. To not come up with it, it stings a little bit."

Prescott: "He took ownership and accountability. He shut me up in the same sense of taking accountability. It wasn't just those plays. There are throws I want back."

        2025 Fantasy Football Impact

Lamb officially dropped a pair of fourth-quarter passes, one over the middle and a deep ball down the right side. Dallas' final offensive play also targeted him deep down the left but fell incomplete. Lamb would have needed to make a difficult catch, laying out to reach it. But he got both hands on that one as well.

Any of those connections would have pushed Prescott's passing total higher and allowed for more offensive plays in a tight game. So consider the QB's performance OK for a week in which we didn't expect much. (Prescott entered the night as QB19 in our Week 1 rankings.)

He saw pressure on 11 of 35 dropbacks, a 31.4% rate that checked in short of last year's 34.3% rate, according to Pro Football Focus. We'll see how much of that was positive for Dallas vs. negative for a Philly front that shed a bunch of players and lost Carter for the full game.

Ultimately, nothing about Prescott's opener should change your 2025 expectations for him.

Week 2 holds a home matchup with the Giants that should be friendlier. We'll see about a Week 3 visit to Chicago (and beyond).

        Trade Value Changes

If you're in the market for a QB and the Prescott manager in your league is panicking, then consider making an offer. We still like the upside on Dallas' passing game and its QB for the season. And RB Javonte Williams' 2 TDs overshadowed a lackluster opener for the Cowboys' run game.
