Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Minnesota Vikings have ruled QB J.J. McCarthy out for the Vikings' Week 3. McCarthy is dealing with a high-ankle sprain that happened in the second half of Minnesota's loss in Atlanta.
Update: McCarthy has a high-ankle sprain and is expected to miss 2-4 weeks, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Vikings host the Bengals in Week 3 before heading overseas for back-to-back games. Then comes a Week 6 bye. Week 7 seems like McCarthy's likeliest return target, but we'll keep you updated on his status.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
The Vikings came away really beat up from Atlanta. HC Kevin O'Connell also announced that RB Aaron Jones (hamstring) is unlikely to play. C Ryan Kelly and LT Justin Skule are also in concussion protocol.
QB Carson Wentz will draw the start for the Vikings, who host the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
Wentz is a 32-year-old journeyman playing for his sixth team. He started one game for the Chiefs last season, going 10-of-17 for 98 scoreless yards in a meaningless Week 18 regular-season finale.
Per our Matt Schauff, Wentz has a 3% INT rate and 9% sack rate since leaving Indianapolis following the 2022 season.
