Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (ankle) has a "strong chance" to make his 2025 debut against the Eagles in Week 4, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. That'd be a little ahead of the "Week 5 or later" timeline we'd most recently heard for Godwin. He's been practicing on a limited basis for the last two weeks. Schefter also says there's a " strong chance" LT Tristan Wirfs makes it back for Week 4. That'd be as big a boost to this offense as Godwin's return (maybe bigger).
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
We don't expect Godwin to be a full-go in his 2025 debut. The Buccaneers have played it safe with his return all offseason and will likely have him on some type of snap count to start. Godwin won't be a recommended Week 4 fantasy starter, especially against a tough Eagles secondary.
He could quickly re-emerge as a big-time asset, though. Godwin averaged 8.9 targets through Week 7 last year, ranking fifth among WRs in PPR points per game. We'll see how quickly he can re-discover that form. And, of course, he faces tougher target competition with Emeka Egbuka joining Mike Evans in the WR corps.
Other Winners & Losers
Godwin's return also means more target competition for Evans and Egbuka. Evans has racked up 19 targets on a 27.1% share through two weeks, so he can afford to lose some volume.
Egbuka, on the other hand, is sitting on an 18.6% target share so far. If he falls any further from there, he'll be tough to trust in fantasy lineups.
We highlighted Egbuka as a potential sell high in this week's Trade Targets article.
