Bo Nix Close to a Bigger Day, But Production Remains Limited

        Bo Nix Headshot

Broncos QB Bo Nix managed just 153 passing yards in Sunday's loss to the Chargers. He went 14-of-25 passing, with 34% of his yards and the lone passing score coming on a 52-yard deep connection with WR Courtland Sutton. The game featured several other long balls that overshot their targets, but the locker room proved far more supportive than accusatory afterward.

        What They're Saying

RB J.K. Dobbins: "Nah, he ain't miss no throws. He ain't miss no throws. He played a great game. And we got his back, I got his back. He's a great quarterback. It's a team game. We lost as a team. It's not on him. Guys gotta -- I gotta make more plays for him."

Luca Evans of The Denver Post: "Dobbins might disagree, but the Broncos quarterback left a few massive plays on the field Sunday."

WR Courtland Sutton: "I always tell Bo, it's never always on him. It's a full team effort. None of us go out there and play a perfect game. And I don't want him to ever feel the pressure of needing to be perfect for us to go out there and be successful."

        2025 Fantasy Football Impact

Nix specifically overthrew WR Marvin Mims on a third-and-16 in the second quarter with a deep ball that likely would have produced a TD. There was a similar slight overthrow in the third quarter to Mims on another potential long score. And a fourth-quarter deep ball sailed beyond Sutton.

"Keep slinging," HC Sean Payton said afterward. "The last thing we want is to ... I mean, man, those are almost spot on."

It's obviously nice that teammates and coaches are backing the QB. But Nix has averaged just 175 passing yards through the first three games, with a high of 206 in Week 2. He's averaging just 5.6 yards per pass attempt, down from a 6.7 mark from last year that ranked 29th among 36 qualifiers.

Sunday did, at least, present a season high of 33 rushing yards.

Nix needs to rebound in the passing game, though. He'll get a chance to do so against the Bengals in Week 4. We'll see whether that's enough to push fantasy's QB26 in points per game so far into the top 12 of our Week 4 QB rankings.
