Chiefs WR Rashee Rice is set to make his 2025 debut vs. the Raiders this weekend. He missed the first six games of the season on suspension and will also be playing in his first game since last year's season-ending knee injury. HC Andy Reid was non-committal when asked Monday how much Rice will play against Vegas.
What They're Saying
Reid on Rice: “I know he’s been working like crazy. The rule states that we can’t work with him [during the suspension], but I know he’s been working out hard, and I think it’s just a matter of getting him back in the swing. I’m not going to tell you [how much he’ll play]. I’ve got to see it to kind of work through it, but I know he’s in good shape. That’s the one thing I do know, and I think that’ll be important — him coming back in there and getting with Patrick [Mahomes], and kind of getting on the same page. But we’ll just see how all that works out. We haven’t put the game plan in yet, so we’re working through all that now.”
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
A fully involved Rice scored as a WR1 over the second half of his 2023 rookie season and the first three games of last year. That'll make it tough to leave him on benches this week.
But we can't expect Rice to play his usual role after missing so much time with the knee injury and suspension. We'll look for more clues about exactly how big a role he'll play in his 2025 debut. He'll still make sense as a starter in plenty of fantasy lineups even if he's just at 70-80% of his normal workload.
