Tyler Higbee, Rams TEs Worthless Now; But Is There a Long-Term Buy?

If you thought Tyler Higbee's 4-catch Week 2 signaled ascending fantasy value, then you were mistaken. Higbee easily led Rams tight ends in route rate for Sunday's loss at Philadelphia, and it didn't matter at all. He drew just two targets, caught neither, and watched his whole position group combine for just 1 reception. Rams TEs have totaled 9 receptions through three games.

        What They're Saying

Sean McVay on rookie TE Terrance Ferguson after the Week 2 win over Tennessee: "What an individual play when we got the extra point blocked to not allow them to be able to get two. You see the athleticism to be able to track that down. He's a guy we want to get going."

        2025 Fantasy Football Impact

Why did I include a quote about Ferguson? Because of that last part. He's a guy we want to get going.

Well, McVay clearly didn't mean right now so much. The Rams made Ferguson -- a second-round rookie -- a healthy scratch for Sunday's game. That wasn't surprising, with Colby Parkinson returning from a shoulder injury that cost him Week 2. But it emphasizes that Ferguson's more of a long-term project.

Higbee remained the clear receiving leader at the position, running 21 routes among Matthew Stafford's 34 dropbacks. That ranked third on the team across positions and led the next TE (Davis Allen) by 15. It also aligned with the TE usage of the first two games.

But Higbee has now gone catch-less twice in three games. And his four targets in the other contest marked a 12% share of Stafford's total attempts.

There's bound to be a game here and there where Higbee scores a TD or compiles a usable number of receptions. But don't bet on Rams TEs turning helpful anytime soon.

        Dynasty Impact

Ferguson's total absence from the game plan thus far could make him a deep dynasty buy.

McVay's words above serve as a reminder that the team likes his athleticism, and they drafted him in Round 2. It wouldn't be shocking if Ferguson returns zero fantasy value this year.

But every empty week will increase the chances you can swipe him from a panicky league mate.
