Rookie QB Tyler Shough completed 19 of 27 passes for 282 yards and 2 TDs with no INTs i in the win against the Carolina Panthers. He supported the Saints’ top two receiving weapons in WR Chris Olave (5-104-1) and TE Juwan Johnson (4-92-1). Despite the strong showing, the Saints' offense only scored 17 points.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Shough finally gave the Saints’ offense the spark it had been needing. Going against a Panthers’ defense that was inconsistent against the pass helped, but it was a bright showing for the rookie.
Olave visited the medical tent multiple times in the game and missed some snaps, causing him to run fewer routes than WR Devaughn Vele, 31 to 26.
Johnson was outsnapped by TE Foster Moreau himself 42 to 34.
However, the passing game still centered on Olave and Johnson.
The accelerated passing game continued to spell some doom and gloom for RB Alvin Kamara’s fantasy output. He did run the ball 22 times, but only mustered 83 yards and no TDs. He caught all three targets for 32 yards.
With the lack of passing game usage, Kamara has become very benchable moving forward. The only potential positive is that Kamara doesn’t have any negative fantasy RB match-ups for the rest of the season.
Olave has the second-hardest remaining fantasy schedule for WR1s, though he did just excel in a negative match-up against the Panthers. He should still be started moving forward.
Johnson’s schedule ranks 24th among TEs for the rest of the season with a rough match-up against the Falcons in two weeks.
The Saints will be on bye next week.
