Jarquez Hunter Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Rams RB Jarquez Hunter is a healthy scratch for today's opener vs. the Texans. It's confirmation that Blake Corum is the No. 2 RB and preferred Kyren Williams handcuff. Cody Schrader is active as the Rams' No. 3 RB.

Rams OC Mike LaFleur said Wednesday that he'd like to divvy up the work more this season between RBs Kyren Williams and Blake Corum. "It benefits everyone to make sure that you’re not just wearing someone down or overusing somebody," LaFleur said. "The plan is to split those up a little bit and distribute, whether it’s the run or the pass game, and making sure people are involved within the scheme."

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Rams have agreed to a three-year extension with RB Kyren Williams. The deal will pay $33 million in total, with $23 million of that guaranteed. Williams had been in the final (fourth) year of his rookie contract.

Rams RB Kyren Williams doesn't believe he's reached his "peak" in the NFL. “I've gotten to where I wanted to be, but I'm determined to make this my best season," Williams remarked via NFL.com. The 24-year-old finished as the PPR RB7 last year. He set career highs in carries (316), catches (34), total yards (1,481), and total TDs (16).

The Rams selected Auburn RB Jarquez Hunter with the 118th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Hunter was Tank Bigsby's backup for his first two years at Auburn. Come 2023, the Mississippi native earned lead back work and showed promise as a rushing and receiving threat. His production peaked in 2024 with 187 carries, 1,201 yards, and 8 TDs. That’s 6.4 yards per carry – tied for fifth best among 82 RBs with 150+ attempts. He excelled as a tackle-dodger with 4.10 yards after contact per attempt and a 142.5 PFF Elusive Rating – both top-15 marks in the same sample. At 5’9, 204 pounds, Hunter is a compact back with a nice combo of strength and speed. He also showed NFL-caliber athleticism at the Combine with an 8.00 Relative Athletic Score.
