McVay spoke similarly about Williams throughout the offseason, yet there has been some fear among fantasy players that the RB would lose work to Blake Corum and rookie Jarquez Hunter.

Williams led all RBs in opportunity share in 2023 (adjusted for games missed) and then ranked fourth last season. Only Saquon Barkley joined him among the top 4 in both seasons.

So Williams can lose some work ... and probably should, really. His yards per touch dipped to a career-low 4.2 last season, down from 5.2 and 4.9 the previous two seasons. Rushing fewer than the 19.8 and 19.0 times per game he did the past two years would likely help the 202-pounder's efficiency.

But this new pact should allay any fears that the Rams are ready to siphon significant work from their horse, who turns 25 at the end of this month.

Dynasty Impact

Williams has likely been undervalued in many a dynasty league this offseason, where fears over his workload would combine with an expiring contract.

Consider reaching out to the Williams owner in your league -- especially if he/she looks otherwise stocked at RB -- to see whether that person has yet to adjust the Williams outlook.

This contract obviously boosts Williams' chances of helping fantasy lineups over at least the next three years.

His extension also damages the dynasty outlooks for Corum and Hunter.
