Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Broncos WR Marvin Mims (thigh) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. He ended up missing just one practice with this injury, and it shouldn't be a factor in Sunday's opener vs. the Titans. Mims was a full-time player with the first-team offense this preseason, turning him into one of the more intriguing sleepers in fantasy football. He'd be a shaky Week 1 fantasy start, but Mims is worth a roster spot in all leagues of 12+ teams.
Broncos WR Marvin Mims returned to the practice field Monday. That means Mims missed only one day of practice (Friday) after leaving with a groin injury last week. The return seems to put Mims on track to play in Sunday's season opener against the Titans.
Broncos WR Marvin Mims missed practice on Thursday with a groin injury. HC Sean Payton expressed no concern and expects Mims to return to practice on Monday.
Broncos’ WR Marvin Mims Jr. left Wednesday’s practice early with a groin injury. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the team isn’t “overly concerned.”
WR Devaughn Vele has been traded to the New Orleans Saints, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Broncos WR Marvin Mims started opposite WR Courtland Sutton in Saturday’s preseason contest against the San Francisco 49ers.
Broncos second-year WR Devaughn Vele has earned praise from multiple sources for his performance in early team workouts.
Broncos HC Sean Payton said "so many things" about WR Pat Bryant's game remind him of WR Michael Thomas. "Very explosive off the line of scrimmage, very competitive, very tough," Payton said of Bryant, who was selected by Denver in Round 3. "His size and his hands are outstanding. He’s physical."
Broncos RB Jaleel McLaughlin (quad) is not listed on the final injury report and will be back for Saturday's game vs. the Bengals. Denver figures to deploy at least a three-RB committee with McLaughlin, Javonte Williams, and Audric Estime in that one. We'll see if RB Blake Watson stays involved. And WR Marvin Mims has also been getting backfield work lately. It's a RB group to try to avoid in Week 17 fantasy lineups.
Broncos WR Devaughn Vele (ribs) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game vs. the Steelers. The rookie ranked third among Denver WRs in pass routes (31) and tied for second with eight targets in Week 1. He played 79% of his snaps in the slot. Lil’Jordan Humphrey played the second most slot snaps among Broncos WRs in the opener and looks like the most likely replacement for Vele against Pittsburgh. WR Marvin Mims could also pick up some extra playing time.
Broncos WR Courtland Sutton managed only 4 catches for 38 yards in a Week 1 matchup at Seattle. Sutton led the team with 12 targets but struggled to click with rookie QB Bo Nix.
Mike Klis of 9News reports that the Broncos are "moving on from" WR Tim Patrick. Klis says the team is looking into trade opportunities and that Patrick is "generating strong interest" on the market. The league-wide roster cutdown deadline comes Tuesday.
Broncos HC Sean Payton named QB Bo Nix his starting QB on Wednesday. This was the most likely scenario when Denver took Nix with the 12th overall pick of this spring's draft. Nix bolstered his case with two strong preseason outings, completing 76.7% of his passes at 7.0 yards per attempt with two TDs and zero INTs.
Broncos WR Troy Franklin has been battling drops in camp and appears to be low on the depth chart. Camp reports have him behind the Broncos Seventh Round Pick WR Devaughn Vele.
Broncos WR Troy Franklin is no higher than fifth on the depth chart right now, according to insider Benjamin Allbright. Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims, and Josh Reynolds are the top three WRs, with Tim Patrick looking like the No. 4, per Allbright.
The Athletic's Nick Kosmider chose WR Marvin Mims as the Broncos' breakout player this season. Kosmider notes that WR Jerry Jeudy's departure opens up opportunity for Mims, and that HC Sean Payton promised more work for Mims in his second season.
The Broncos signed WR Josh Reynolds to a two-year, $14 million deal, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Reynolds ranked third among Lions last year in both receiving yards (608) and TDs (5), fending off Jameson Williams for the No. 2 WR job. He's developed into a reliable receiver. But he's also never topped 618 yards across his seven NFL seasons. Reynolds should find plenty of snaps for a Broncos team with Marvin Mims, Tim Patrick, Brandon Johnson, and Phillip Dorsett behind No. 1 WR Courtland Sutton. But he's not an exciting fantasy option. If Reynolds is the most significant WR addition Denver makes this offseason, Mims will have every chance to earn a major role in his second season.
