WR Travis Hunter led the Jaguars with eight targets in his NFL debut Sunday. He caught six of them (also a team high) for 33 yards. Hunter actually ranked third among Jags receivers in playing time, staying on the field for 63.6% of the offensive snaps and running a route on 81.8% of dropbacks. That number narrowly trailed No. 2 Dyami Brown (84.8%), though, and also fell not far behind Brian Thomas Jr. (27 routes vs. 33).
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Jacksonville Jaguars plan to feature first-round WR Travis Hunter primarily on offense in the team's Week 1 opener against the Carolina Panthers. Hunter will also play defense as a rotational CB.
Jaguars WR Travis Hunter practiced on Wednesday and will be ready for Week 1, GM James Gladstone said. The rookie had been sidelined since August 14 with an upper-body injury. "He's on the grass today and rolling full speed," Gladstone said.
Jaguars WR/CB Travis Hunter missed today’s joint practice with the Dolphins due to an upper-body injury according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Hunter will also miss the Jaguars third preseason game. HC Liam Coen said he considered letting Hunter practice, but didn’t want to risk reaggrevating the injury.
Jaguars WR Travis Hunter returned to a limited practice on Tuesday, according to NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe. Hunter missed a few days of practice and Jacksonville's second preseason game with an upper-body injury, but it shouldn't be a factor by the time Week 1 rolls around. Hunter remains an exciting WR3 target in fantasy drafts. We highlighted him as one of the highest-upside picks.
Jaguars WR Travis Hunter is in danger of missing the team’s second preseason game. HC Liam Coen indicated that he may hold Hunter out due to an upper-body injury, but that it is just precautionary. He missed Thursday’s practice with the injury.

Travis Hunter has drawn understandable focus in Jaguars practice reports. But multiple beat writers have highlighted the play of WR Dyami Brown in recent days.
Jaguars WR Travis Hunter “continues to shine” in training camp, per beat writer John Shipley.
The Jaguars' early plan for acclimating No. 2 overall pick Travis Hunter has been to separate his offensive and defensive duties by day. The rookie spent the first two days of training camp with the offense, according to ESPN's Michael DiRocco, and then Day 3 on defense. That approach is reportedly meant to keep from Hunter feeling overloaded mentally as he learns a different playbook for each position.
Jaguars GM James Gladstone said rookie Travis Hunter's number of snaps on offense vs. defense could vary from game to game.
Jaguars HC Liam Coen said rookie WR/CB Travis will "primarily play on offense, while learning the defensive system and practicing on the defensive side as well during this offseason program." Hunter is capable of being an impact player on both sides of the ball — and it sounds like Jacksonville has already been thinking through a plan to play Hunter on both sides. "We have to be fluid throughout this process," Coen added. "We’ve had multiple at-length conversations with athletic training, sport science, equipment, coaching, everybody involved in this process."
The Jaguars selected Colorado WR Travis Hunter with the second pick of Round 1 in the 2025 NFL Draft. He brings rare athleticism and a polished offensive skill set, but it remains to be seen if he will play both CB and WR for the Jaguars. A slender 6'1, 185 pounds, the Georgia native wins with clean route running, advanced ball skills, and sticky hands. The Jackson State transfer posted 57-721-5 in his debut season at Colorado. Then in 2024, his production reached superstar status with 96 catches, 1,258 yards, and 15 TDs. He primarily played outside in 2024 after seeing heavy slot usage in 2023. He also ranked 11th among Combine WRs in 2024 Target Share at 26.3%, and fourth among those WRs in PFF Receiving Grade with an 89. He is currently 21 years old with a Breakout Age of 19.4. He ranked first among WRs in our Draft Sharks predraft Rookie Model scoring a 9.19. Our Comp for him in our Rookie Guide is Santana Moss.
