Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
49ers QB Brock Purdy is expected to miss two to five games with a turf toe variant, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. He suffered the injury in the second quarter of Week 1 vs. Seattle. Mac Jones will start in his place this week.
Falcons WR Darnell Mooney (shoulder) got in a limited practice on Wednesday. We're tentatively projecting Mooney to play vs. the Vikings on Sunday night but will keep tabs on his status over the next few days.
Broncos TE Evan Engram (calf) got in a limited practice on Wednesday. That gives him a shot to play vs. the Colts this weekend after exiting the opener. Engram notably ran a route on just 49% of pass plays through three quarters, though, before the calf injury. He's not a recommended Week 2 fantasy starter.
Jets TE Mason Taylor (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday, putting his status for this weekend's game vs. the Bills in question. It's unclear if this ankle issue is related to the high-ankle sprain Taylor suffered in early August. The rookie caught his only target for 20 yards in the opener, but he registered a strong 84% route rate. That keeps Taylor on the fantasy radar, although he shouldn't be anywhere near your starting lineup this week.
49ers WR Jauan Jennings (shoulder) did not practice on Wednesday. Jennings' injury reportedly isn't serious, but he's not a lock to play vs. the Saints this weekend. Even if he does, he'd be a shaky fantasy starter between the shoulder injury and expected absence of QB Brock Purdy.
Giants WR Wan'Dale Robinson (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday. We don't have any other details on his status. Hopefully Robinson isn't in your Week 2 fantasy plans, but his absence would leave behind significant target opportunity. Robinson ranked second among Giants with eight targets in the opener.
Browns RB Quinshon Judkins did not practice on Wednesday. He was in New York City meeting with the league about the domestic violence allegations against him. We'll see where that goes in terms of a potential suspension, but we'd be surprised if the Browns deemed Judkins ready to play vs. the Ravens this weekend. His absence would again leave the backfield to Dylan Sampson, Jerome Ford, and Raheim Sanders.
49ers QB Brock Purdy (toe, shoulder) is a "long shot" to play vs. the Saints this weekend, HC Kyle Shanahan said Wednesday. Shanahan added that Purdy could be looking at a multi-week absence. SI's Grant Cohn hears that the team is expecting Purdy to miss two games. His absence will leave QB Mac Jones under center.
Bills RB James Cook was limited in Wednesday's practice with a hamstring issue. We don't have any other details, but it's a positive sign that Cook was able to get on the field at all this early in the week. He can stay penciled into Week 2 fantasy lineups for now, but his status bears monitoring over the next few days. RB Ray Davis remains one of the highest-upside handcuffs in fantasy football and should remain stashed on fantasy benches despite a quiet Week 1.
Falcons WR Drake London (shoulder) will practice on Wednesday and is expected to play vs. the Falcons on Sunday night, HC Raheem Morris said Wednesday in a roundabout way. "That's not saying that he is," Morris said. "But when you ask me, 'Do I expect him to play?' Of course. Drake is an ultimate tough guy, and when he says he's going to practice, that tells you a lot." We'll continue to track London's status over the next few days, but getting out on the practice field on Wednesday is a good sign.
Eagles TE Dallas Goedert has a knee sprain that has his status "up in the air" for Sunday's game vs. the Chiefs, according to beat writer Eliot Shorr-Parks. "Team will see how he progresses this week. It is not believed to be long-term injury that will keep him sidelined for long — if at all," Shorr-Parks adds.
Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy won't have surgery on his injured shoulder and won't be placed on IR, HC Andy Reid said Wednesday. That means the team expects Worthy to miss fewer than four games.
The Packers and WR Christian Watson agreed to a one-year, $13.25 million extension, according to multiple reports. Watson was scheduled to hit free agency this coming offseason but is now signed with Green Bay through the 2026 campaign.
The 49ers signed K Eddy Pineiro. He'll replace K Jake Moody, who was dumped earlier on Tuesday after missing a FG and having another blocked in Week 1. Pineiro kicked for Carolina last year, making 22 of 26 FGs and 33 of 35 XPs. He's converted 88% of his FGs over five NFL seasons. Pineiro could become a fantasy spot-start option when San Francisco's offense gets healthy, but he's not a recommended Week 2 play.
ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms NFL Network's earlier report that 49ers WR Jauan Jennings' shoulder injury is not serious. Scans on the shoulder "came back clean," according to Schefter. "Jennings now will be considered day to day, and has a chance to play Sunday at New Orleans." It's good news for Jennings, who the 49ers desperately need after losing TE George Kittle for at least the next four games. We'll track Jennings' practice participation this week. If he can't play vs. the Saints on Sunday, San Francisco would be down to WRs Kendrick Bourne, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Skyy Moore, Jordan Watkins, and Russell Gage behind Ricky Pearsall.
Vikings LB Blake Cashman left Monday night's win over the Bears with an injury to his right hamstring. Ben Goessling of the Minnesota Star Tribune reports that the "initial expectation" is that Cashman will miss "several weeks." The LB's headed for a Monday MRI to determine the extent of the damage.
49ers K Jake Moody was cut after missing a short field goal and having another blocked in Week 1. The team had brought in Greg Joseph in camp to battle Moody, but cut him before the season. They currently have no Kicker on the roster.
The 49ers placed TE George Kittle on Injured Reserve. Kittle will miss a minimum of 4 games.
"At this point, it does not appear Jauan Jennings' shoulder injury is serious," NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said Tuesday. That's the extent of the information we have on Jennings' left shoulder at this point. It sounds like he'll dodge a long-term absence, but his availability for this weekend's game vs. the Saints remains uncertain. We'll see if he's out there for Wednesday's practice, but fantasy owners need to have an alternative option lined up for Week 2.
The Steelers are set to announced the signing of S Jabrill Peppers, according to multiple reports. That comes two days after S DeShon Elliott left the win over the Jets with a knee injury. And there are mixed early signals out Elliott's outlook.
