Jonathan Taylor Expected To Avoid IR

Colts HC Shane Steichen said Monday that the team isn't planning to place RB Jonathan Taylor (ankle) on short-term IR "as of now," according to insider Mike Chappell. Taylor is dealing with what NFL Network's Ian Rapoport called a "mild" high-ankle sprain. It's notably the same ankle that required surgery in January 2023. Consider it good news if Taylor misses fewer than four games with this injury. We're not expecting him to play vs. the Jaguars on Sunday but will track his progress throughout the week. Taylor's absence would leave Trey Sermon as Indianapolis' lead back.
