Per ESPN's Kris Rhim, Chargers RB Omarion Hampton has been “the talk of the Chargers’ offseason activities for his play on the field and his physical stature.”
What They're Saying
Here's OC Greg Roman on his early impressions of the rookie (via ESPN):
"He's the total package...You don't see a lot of guys find a hole like he's doing right now."
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Hampton's Round 1 status says he's in for a busy 2025. Best ball drafters agree, as Hampton's currently going in late Round 4 according to Underdog ADP. On average, only 14 RBs are going ahead of the rookie.
That's a bit rich for us. The presence of Najee Harris is the main factor in Hampton slotting outside the top-20 in our PPR RB rankings. Hampton does jump to RB17 in our ceiling projections.
A balanced offense at least projects favorably for both RBs. Roman's offenses haven't finished lower than 11th in rush attempts in any of his 11 seasons as an OC.
We'll keep a close eye on his activity in the receiving game, too. Last year, Roman's Chargers ranked 31st in RB target share (12%). Hampton has the skill set to thrive there, but we'll see if he can gain trust as a pass protector.
The good news? His history suggests that won't be an issue. Per Pro Football Focus, Hampton allowed only 1 career sack and 2 career hits on 192 pass blocking opportunities.
