Chargers RB Najee Harris is expected to be ready for the start of the season, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Harris suffered a relatively minor eye injury in a July 4 fireworks accident. He's expected to miss "limited time" at the start of training camp but return "sooner rather than later," Rapoport says.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Harris was fortunate to escape this scary situation with a relatively minor injury that doesn't sound like it'll impact his availability for the start of the season.
Any missed practice time for the veteran can't hurt rookie RB Omarion Hampton's early-season playing time, though. We'll see when Harris is able to get back on the field and then keep a close eye on how work will be divvied between these two.
Rankings Movement
Harris' floor projection took a slight hit with news of the eye injury, but he only moved a couple of spots down the RB rankings. He remains on the RB3/4 borderline and is more likely to help fantasy teams early in the season than late. We expect Hampton's role to grow throughout the year.
