Chargers RB Najee Harris is expected to be placed on the non-football injury list to open training camp, GM Joe Hortiz said Wednesday. Hortiz added that Harris has been receiving treatment for his eye injury from doctors at Stanford.
What They're Saying
Hortiz on Harris: “We’ll get more clarity when he gets in and our doctors see him. But we’re in communication with the doctors there and everything that’s been relayed to us has been positive.”
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Harris is eligible to be activated from the non-football injury list and return to practice at any point. Both Harris' agent and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport have said recently that Harris is expected to be ready for Week 1.
We don't have a timetable for his return to the field, though. And any missed practice time is notable for a player settling into a new offense.
Our eyebrows are also raised by the fact that Harris is still getting treatment from Stanford doctors close to two weeks after suffering what's been reported as a "superficial" injury.
We'll look for more details on Harris' status and see when he gets back on the field. But, for now, he's a guy to shy away from in fantasy drafts.
Other Winners & Losers
The missed practice time for Harris can't be bad news for RB Omarion Hampton, who should pick up extra first-team reps in camp. We recently bumped Hampton a couple spots up the RB rankings.
