Chargers HC Jim Harbaugh said Tuesday that he's not sure if RB Najee Harris (eye) will be ready to return before training camp ends on August 8. "I don't know," Harbaugh started. "Certainly not an expert as you know. Approaching it better today than yesterday, better tomorrow than today. Healing, he's healing. And doing everything that he can."
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
It's certainly worth noting that Harbaugh only said that he's unsure if Harris will be back on the field before August 8. That's still a month before the start of the season.
Harris' status even beyond that remains a mystery, though. We still have very few details on the eye injury he suffered in a July 4 fireworks accident. Harris is currently on the non-football injury list, although Harbaugh did say that he's been participating in meetings.
We'll continue to keep a close eye on Harris' status. Although he's an established veteran, he's also settling into a brand new offense.
Other Winners & Losers
Every day Harris misses gives RB Omarion Hampton a shot to capture a bigger early-season role. The first-round rookie was already likely to be a significant part of the offense right away. But if Harris remains out deep into August, Hampton could be a workhorse early on.
He's an exciting upside pick anywhere beyond Round 3 of fantasy drafts.
