Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reported that second-round rookie RB Quinshon Judkins could be nearing a return and might be on the field as soon as this week.
Prosecutors dropped the domestic battery charges facing Judkins two weeks ago. However, he is still subject to a suspension by the NFL's front office.
That is likely the main issue keeping Judkins unsigned, as many second-round picks from this year's draft have signed fully guaranteed deals. The verbiage of most guaranteed contracts can be impacted by suspensions.
If Judkins signs, he would be eligible to practice with the team and could potentially be on the field as early as Week 1.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
This is good news. The Browns were counting on Judkins to have a big role. For now, Jerome Ford and fellow rookie Dylan Sampson will lead the backfield until Judkins is in 'football shape'.
However, the looming suspension complicates his potential fantasy value. Especially early on.
Cleveland looks like they will employ a committee backfield, but Judkins could be the best fit as an early-down and between-the-tackles runner.
For now, fantasy managers who haven't drafted can view Judkins as a mid-to-late risk/reward target but should expect to see him suspended for multiple games at some point this season.
