Dolphins TE Darren Waller collected 5 catches, 78 yards, and 1 score in Week 5. All of his production surfaced in the first half of a three-point loss at Carolina.

Waller followed up a two-score Week 4 by finding the end zone again on Sunday. This time, he exploited an opening in the coverage off play-action. DB Jaycee Horn never turned to locate the ball, allowing Waller to secure the reception.
Carolina leaned into zone coverage throughout Sunday's win, and Waller found openings on a couple of other occasions. His other highlight showed his downfield speed, as he got behind the defending LB and in front of the deep safety. The gain went for 34 yards and also showed off Waller's massive wingspan.
The second-quarter score set Waller up for a nice day, but it could have been even better. The veteran wasn't targeted at all in the second half. His target share was also an underwhelming 13.8%.
One silver lining: His snaps and routes increased, as expected, in the first game without Tyreek Hill. Waller posted a 68% route rate and a 58% snap share.
Meanwhile, Jaylen Waddle chipped in with 6 catches, 110 yards, and 1 score. He brushed off an early injury scare to average 18.5 yards per catch. Waddle scored on a 46-yard deep ball from Tua Tagovailoa, as the WR simply blew by the DB. Later, Tua misfired on a ball intended for Waddle when he broke free across the middle.
Tua finished with 256-3 passing on a 75% completion rate. Sunday also marked his fourth straight game with at least two passing scores.
What's Next for Darren Waller?
The Dolphins take on the Chargers at home in Week 6. It's a matchup that should bring boosted pass volume -- and a TE1 fantasy outlook for Waller.
