If you drafted Cardinals TE Trey McBride anywhere inside the first three rounds, then his five-game start might feel a little disappointing. McBride sits tied for seventh in PPR points per game so far, matching the one drive that George Kittle played in the opener before landing on IR with a hamstring injury. Sunday's loss to the Titans marked McBride's low point -- literally. It was the first time this season he finished a game with fewer than 12 PPR points. But McBride still managed on solid 5 catches (tied for the team lead) on a team-high seven targets. He has caught 5+ balls in every game ... and continued to have trouble finding the end zone.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
McBride's single TD through five games at least puts him halfway to last year's total. More importantly, though, there's been nothing wrong with his usage.
McBride ranks second behind Cowboys TE Jake Ferguson in targets and receptions at the position but entered Sunday's games as the position leader in expected PPR points per game.
According to Pro Football Focus, McBride entered Week 5 scoring 4.0 PPR points short of expectation. That trailed Tampa's Cade Otton by just 0.1 for the largest negative gap at the position.
McBride leads even Ferguson in target share through five weeks and leads all tight ends with a 28.4% share of Arizona's air yards.
Although QB Kyler Murray's not ready to boost any pass-catcher's production, the QB's performance looks similar to previous seasons.
So expect McBride's numbers to improve going forward, and continue to comfortably start him in your PPR lineups.
McBride does carry less value the more reception scoring you remove.
