Bhayshul Tuten Dynasty Value: Does His Film Match the Testing?

QUICK LINKS:
The 2025 RB class projects as the deepest in recent memory.
But don't overlook Bhayshul Tuten.
The three-year starter presents a nice blend of elusiveness, long speed, and production. He exits college with no more than 208 carries in any season -- and no worrisome injury history.
After his dynamic Combine showing, should we boost Tuten even further up our dynasty rookie rankings -- where we already had him higher than the market?
Let's take a look at his FULL dynasty value...

Tuten accepted his only Division I offer – from North Carolina A&T – in 2021.
NFL promise surfaced in 2022 with a 208-1,363-13 rushing line. He hit 100 rushing yards in 10 of 11 games en route to averaging 6.6 yards per carry for the season.
Impressive. But let’s add some critical context.
Tuten played an FCS schedule, meaning games against schools such as Gardner-Webb, Norfolk State, and Robert Morris.
In fairness, Tuten’s lone game against an FBS school – Duke – turned up 133 yards on 13 carries.
Still, would we ever see a larger sample against top competition?
Uprootin’ Tuten: A Move to Blacksburg
First, let’s hear how RB described his transfer portal experience.
"It was definitely a tough journey, Tuten said via 247sports. I'm not going to lie, it was pretty stressful.
"A lot of teams were calling and you have to weed out who you want to go to. I wasn't originally committed to Virginia Tech. I was committed to Boston College. Things didn't work out there. I ended up de-comitting, flipping, and I felt Tech was the best option for me. It's history from there."
Soon, Tuten would trade stress for a stronger résumé.
Virginia Tech a Strong Match
Across 2023-24, Tuten totaled 2,022 rushing yards and 25 TDs. A run-heavy offense helped him see 15 carries (17 touches) per game.
Tuten’s best work appeared this past fall. Among 82 RBs with 150+ carries, Tuten ranked:
- Tied for ninth in yards per carry
- Seventh in Pro Footbal Focus’ elusive rating
- Fourth in yards after contact per attempt
He flexed on Boston College with 18 carries for a career-best 264 yards. Tuten hit 100 yards in six of 11 games for the year.
Tuten Battles Injuries in '24
Tuten wore a knee brace for an unspecified issue early in the season but shed it ahead of the Oct. 17 game against BC.
He didn’t miss action because of the knee, but the same can’t be said for an October ankle injury that required a walking boot. Tuten missed one game vs. Syracuse and was limited the following week vs. Clemson.
He opted out of VT’s bowl game but racked up 208 yards and 3 TDs on 37 attempts (5.6 YPC) in the two games prior.
Don’t sweat Tuten's health entering the NFL.
Bhayshul Tuten Highlights
Games watched: Boston College (2024), Vanderbilt (2024), Miami (2024), Marshall (2024), Virginia (2024), Florida State (2023)
Tuten stands just 5’9, but he’s a rocked-up 206 pounds.
His tape shows multiple examples of that strength and low center of gravity translating to extra yardage.

In this next clip, the motion man freezes Boston College’s EDGE defender. Tuten quickly rips it upfield, makes two guys miss, and drags a tackler for extra yardage.

Per PFF, Tuten ranked fourth among 82 qualifiers in Breakaway Percentage. PFF describes the metric as “the percentage of a running back's rushing yards that come from runs of 15 or more yards.”
Essentially, Tuten is a master of big plays. We see that on full display in this final clip, where he busts off a 61-yard TD.
The play is well blocked, but note the speed and elusiveness from No. 33 …

And Tuten got little help overall from a Virginia Tech O-line that ranked 92nd in PFF run blocking grade in 2024; 107th in 2023.
My sample of games didn't turn up much of note for Tuten's receiving. He exits college with 87 career catches, albeit with a rough 9.4% drop rate. He at least tallied zero drops (on 27 targets) in 2024.
Tuten must also improve ball security. He recorded five fumbles in 2023; four in 2024.
Bhayshul Tuten Team Fit: Minnesota Vikings
We’ll see if Aaron Jones returns to Minnesota. But the team would like to reduce his load in 2025 if he does. And he’s clearly not a long-term answer at 30.
There's no such answer on the Vikings’ roster. So Tuten could play a part-time role in 2025, and then command a larger load come 2026.
The run scheme also looks like a fit. HC Kevin O’Connell primarily runs a zone scheme, which meshes with Tuten’s experience and forte.
Dynasty Value Conclusion
The harsh truth is this RB class looks deep. So Tuten might be hard pressed to deliver immediate fantasy value.
But let’s take a step back here. In Tuten, we have a productive RB with explosive tape. He dominated at the Combine and should carry that buzz into his pro day.
Fantasy managers are in the business of stacking one smart bet on top of another. And Tuten – as a late Round 2 or Round 3 rookie pick – projects favorably.
He sits ninth in our dynasty rookie RB rankings.
