Week 14 Waiver Wire Pickups

By Kevin English | Updated on Wed, 04 Dec 2024 . 9:03 AM EST
Will Levis is a great QB streamer with six teams on by in this Waiver Wire Pickups Article

The Week 14 Waiver Wire Pickups includes Isaac Guerendo and others.

These players are generally available in at least 70% of Sleeper leagues and ranked in order of priority, by position.

Your bid should vary by format and situation. Need help at RB? Prioritize that position. All set there? Then, you probably don’t need to chase the top guys.

Quarterback

Will Levis, Tennessee Titans

Headshot of Will Levis

Blind-bid recommendation: 3-10%

Levis’ 212-2-0 passing line on Sunday gives him two passing scores in three of four games back from injury. Next up is the Jaguars’ league-worst QB defense.

The Jags have allowed enemy QBs to hit 20 fantasy points eight times in 2024. They sit 30th in pressure rate, 32nd in yards per attempt allowed, and 32nd in passing yards per game allowed.

Consider Levis a spot-start option for that one. The 25-year-old also draws an excellent Week 15 matchup vs. Cincinnati.

Running Back

Isaac Guerendo, San Francisco 49ers

Blind-bid recommendation: 80-100%

On Monday, the 49ers placed Christian McCaffrey and Jordan Mason on IR

Guerendo has handled only 42 carries as a rookie, but he has flashed an explosive skill set with 5.9 yards per attempt. Recall that he exited the NFL Combine as an elite performer.

Check out these results at 6’0, 221 pounds:

  • 98th-percentile 40-time
  • 97th-percentile vertical
  • 95th-percentile broad jumnp
  • 71st-percentile three-cone drill

The 49ers are sure to add another RB. As of this writing, though, it's just Guerendo and Patrick Taylor. The fourth-year pro has garnered just 8 touches this season.

Blake Corum, Los Angeles Rams

Headshot of Blake Corum

Blind-bid recommendation: 8-15%

One of the best bench stashes you can make is a high-upside handcuff who could be a fringe RB1 if the starter goes down.

Corum fits this category perfectly.

The Rams have sprinkled Corum into the offense in recent weeks. His season-high-tying 8 carries against the Saints didn't mark a true workload change. He just happened to be on the field for a long drive, which boosted the touch count.

Corum was also the only RB outside of Williams to get any touches. That has been the case since Week 5.

Stash Corum for a reasonable price if he is still available. If Williams does get injured, the rookie has league-winner potential.

Jeremy McNichols, Washington Commanders

Headshot of Jeremy McNichols

Blind-bid recommendation: 8-15%

With Austin Ekeler out at least another three games (concussion), McNichols is a Brian Robinson injury away from fantasy viability.

McNichols out-carried Chris Rodriguez 6-1 through the first three quarters of Sunday's win over the Titans.

The Commanders rank seventh in RB PPR points per game. If Robinson were to go down, McNichols would likely lead a split backfield.

Rodriguez would factor in but likely cede all receiving work to McNichols.

Washington's bye means McNichols can't help you with any Week 14 gaps. But he's stashable in case of further Robinson injury.

Kendre Miller, New Orleans Saints

Headshot of Kendre Miller

Blind-bid recommendation: 8-12%

Former Saints HC Dennis Allen seemed to have it in for Kendre Miller, bashing him in press conferences and mysteriously putting Miller on IR with a minor injury.

Now, interim HC Darren Rizzi said it will be “all gas, no brakes” when Miller returns. His practice window is open, so we could see Miller back this week.

Miller is a talented runner drafted in the third round last season. He showed it in Week 18 last year with 14 touches for 79 yards and two TDs.

With only Jamaal Williams and Jordan Mims behind Alvin Kamara to date, there is an opening for Miller.

Stash him ahead of a high-upside matchup with the Giants.

Wide Receiver

Adam Thielen, Carolina Panthers

Headshot of Adam Thielen

Blind-bid recommendation: 12-20%

Thielen caught eight of 10 targets for 99 yards and a score in the OT loss to the Bucs. That included an incredible one-handed grab to convert a third-and-5 in OT.

The targets, catches, and yards all led Carolina.

Thielen gets a tough Eagles defense in Week 14, but that’s followed by usable spots vs. the:

  • Cowboys
  • Cardinals
  • and Bucs

Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Tennessee Titans

Headshot of Nick Westbrook-Ikhine

Blind-bid recommendation: 8-12%

Westbrook-Ikhine’s insane TD run continued in the loss to Washington, with two scores on three catches.

He now inexplicably has 8 TDs on 20 catches.

Don’t count on that type of scoring rate going forward, but Westbrook-Ikhine saw a team-high 8 targets in Week 13 and is up to 28 targets over his last five games.

That makes him a low-level option in plus matchups the next two weeks vs. the Jaguars and Bengals.

Westbrook-Ikhine gets a neutral matchup vs. the Colts in Week 16 and then a rematch with the Jags in Week 17.

Tight End

Dawson Knox, Buffalo Bills

Headshot of Dawson Knox

Blind-bid recommendation: 8-15%

Knox saw only 2 targets (11.7% share) in Sunday’s snowy win over San Francisco. But  there’s a chance he draws another start, with Dalton Kincaid rehabbing a knee injury.

Kincaid missed practice throughout last week, and we’ve seen no indication that he’s on track to play vs. the Rams. We’ll certainly track his practice participation.

If Kincaid sits, Knox would command a look with six teams on bye. The Bills are implied for a healthy 26.75 points at Los Angeles, a signal of scoring upside.

Mike Gesicki, Cincinnati Bengals

Headshot of Mike Gesicki

Blind-bid recommendation: 8-12%

Gesicki has stayed involved in the Bengals offense despite the return of WR Tee Higgins

He caught all five of his targets for 53 yards against the Steelers, trailing only Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase in targets.

Gesicki has also run a route on 66% of the Bengals pass plays over the last two games.

He could be a spot starter this week with six teams on bye, though Dallas has been a negative TE matchup by our adjusted fantasy points allowed.

Deep-League Options

Aidan O'Connell, QB, Las Vegas Raiders

Headshot of Aidan O'Connell

Blind-bid recommendation: 1-5%

O’Connell returned to the starting role and had a fantastic game against a Chiefs’ defense that has been a bit leaky lately.

He completed 23 of 35 passes for 340 yards and 2 TDs, leaning on TE Brock Bowers and WR Jakobi Meyers.

This week brings a positive matchup with the Buccaneers.

If you have Lamar Jackson or Jayden Daniels on bye in a deep league, O’Connell can be a plug-in option.

He could even have some use in the fantasy playoffs if you're in a pinch, playing the Falcons and Jaguars in Weeks 15 and 16.

Sincere McCormick, RB, Las Vegas Raiders

Blind-bid recommendation: 5-12%

McCormick led the Raiders with 12 carries and 63 yards in Friday’s tight loss to the Chiefs.

The 63 rushing yards were the second most by a Vegas RB this season. That says a lot about how ineffective this running game has been – but might also earn McCormick a significant role the rest of the way.

Here’s HC Antonio Pierce on the young RB (via ESPN):

“This is a dude, he’s earning more reps. He’ll keep playing for us. And the way he’s running — tough, physical, hard-nosed, bouncing off, fresh legs… His style of play and physicality really showed up.”

He gets neutral matchups the next two weeks vs. the Buccaneers and Falcons, followed by favorable draws vs. the Jaguars and Saints. McCormick will not be a strong fantasy option in any of those games, but he’s worth stashing for emergency depth, particularly in non-PPR leagues.

Kimani Vidal, RB, Los Angeles Chargers

Headshot of Kimani Vidal

Blind-bid recommendation: 5-10%

The Chargers only had 11 RB carries this past week and Vidal got four of them: two fewer than Gus Edwards and three more than Hassan Haskins.

That's enough to give Vidal some deep-league appeal, with J.K. Dobbins out at least another three games.

The rookie did trail Edwards in receiving usage, making him still more of a handcuff than potential Week 14 starter.

Parker Washington, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars

Headshot of Parker Washington

Blind-bid recommendation: 8-15%

Washington played more on the outside in Week 13 with WR Gabriel Davis out. The result was a big 6-103-1 line on a team-high 12 targets.

It’d be tough to trust Washington in Week 14 fantasy lineups vs. the Titans, especially if QB Mac Jones is under center. But he's a potential fill-in for the six-team bye.

And we'll see if the elevated usage continues.

Marquise Brown, Kansas City Chiefs

Headshot of Marquise Brown

Blind-bid recommendation: 0-3%

NFL Network’s Ian Rappoport said Brown has a shot to return for Week 16 or 17.

He had shoulder surgery in September. So, Brown will likely not be at full strength until Week 17, if he plays at all.

If he is an option that week, the Chiefs have a tough Steelers defense anyway.

Ultimately, Brown has the talent to be worth a stash if you have a free roster spot. But don’t drop anyone with value to get him.

Juwan Johnson, New Orleans Saints

Headshot of Juwan Johnson

Blind-bid recommendation: 5-10%

Taysom Hill’s out with an ACL tear. He vacates 36% and 22% target shares over the past two weeks.

On Sunday, Johnson topped fellow TE Foster Moreau in snaps (49 to 46), routes (31 to 19), and targets (6 to 4).

There’s room for both TEs to enter the spot-start mix down the stretch given New Orleans’ league-worst WR situation. But Johnson gets the edge given his superior usage, both last week and over the full season.

Noah Gray, Kansas City Chiefs

Headshot of Noah Gray

Blind-bid recommendation: 5-8%

Gray followed his back-to-back 2-TD games with a 4-58-0 line in Friday’s win over the Raiders.

The 25-year-old saw a season-high 6 targets in that one and has now caught four balls in three straight games.

He’ll be in deep-league spot-start consideration for Week 14 with six teams on bye – although he gets a negative matchup vs. the Chargers. They’ve surrendered only one TE score all season.

Top Streaming Defense for Week 14

New Orleans Saints vs. New York Giants

Another week leads off with “play the defense facing the Giants.” It worked last week with the Cowboys. This week, the Saints host the Giants.

The starting QB hasn’t been announced yet, but it doesn’t matter much. Both Tommy DeVito and Drew Lock have been disastrous.

DeVito led the league with a 17.2% sack rate as a starter last year and didn't show much improvement in his first 2024 start (4 sacks, 11.4% sack rate).

Drew Lock said “hold my beer,” yielded a 15.8% sack rate on Thanksgiving, and tossed a pick-6.

The Saints have averaged 2.7 sacks and 17.3 points allowed over the past three games. They sit 22nd in defensive DVOA but 15th against the pass.

There's top-5 fantasy-scoring potential this week.

Drop Candidates

Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars

Already playing through a shoulder injury, Lawrence suffered a nasty-looking concussion in Sunday’s loss to Houston. He’s a near lock to sit this week, and it wouldn’t be surprising if Jacksonville shuts him down for 2024.

Alexander Mattison, Las Vegas Raiders

Mattison missed the past two games with an ankle injury. In his absence, Sincere McCormick has stepped up and likely earned the lead back role going forward.

Diontae Johnson, Baltimore Ravens

Baltimore enters a Week 14 bye. Beyond that, HC John Harbaugh indicated Monday that there’s a situation brewing with Johnson. He didn’t play a snap vs. Philly.

"At this time, I'm going to have to wait just to clarify it," Harbaugh said via ESPN. "There's some moving parts there that we're going to have to figure out and explore and just see where we're at. I know that's not the answer you want, but that's the best I can do in fairness to everybody right now."

Taysom Hill, New Orleans Saints

Hill suffered a torn ACL on Sunday. He’ll be iffy for Week 1 of 2025.
