Dallas Offensive Struggles Good for Jake Ferguson?

Cowboys TE Jake Ferguson went all Brenton Strange on the Bears in Sunday's loss, racking up 13 catches for 82 yards on 14 targets. Ferguson led all Cowboys in each of those categories while averaging an adorable 6.3 yards per catch. He accounted for the following team shares:

        • 31.8% of targets
        • 38.2% of receptions
        • 28.1% of receiving yards

        2025 Fantasy Football Impact

Ferguson logged just a 3.3-yard average depth of target against Chicago, 2.7+ yards shorter than each of his first two games this season and shy of his already-short season averages for the past two years.

Ferguson has, however, increased his target share and yards per route each week:

        Week TGT% YPR
        1 18.2% 0.79
        2 23.1% 1.81
        3 31.8% 2.83

That's obviously all good news for the tight end. His target count's also likely to continue benefiting from WR CeeDee Lamb's absence. (Lamb left Sunday's game in the first quarter with a high ankle sprain.)

But Ferguson's numbers are also bad news for the Dallas offense. If more than a third of your passing production is coming from 3-yard targets to your TE, then your QB is struggling to find more effective options further down the field. And he's probably dealing with too much pressure.

Indeed, Dak Prescott's dealing with the highest pressure rate of his career and throwing shorter passes than he ever has before.

The good news for you if you've got Ferguson: You don't really have to care about the overall health of the Dallas offense. Just take advantage of the high-volume TE.

He looks like a weekly starter for at least the near future (and maybe all season).
