Niners TE George Kittle officially returned from his hamstring injury in Week 7. But he wound up just short of his usual playing-time share, drew just two targets, and produced nary a catch. Kittle re-emerged in Sunday's loss to the Texans, tying for the team lead with 4 receptions. Kittle tallied 43 yards and caught one of Mac Jones' 2 TD passes. The other scoring toss frustratingly went to TE Jake Tonges on a fourth-quarter route that ran him right in front of Kittle.

If you watch Kittle's post-TD reaction in this video, it seems he might've been expecting that Tonges pass to come his way instead. And because of the way their routes stacked and how that ball was thrown, it's tough to tell for sure which TE Jones was targeting.
That aside, though, it was clearly a positive Week 8 for Kittle. His five targets ranked just third on the team and made up a merely OK 16.2% share of the team total. But he accounted for 21% of the receptions and 22.3% of the receiving yards in a difficult passing matchup.
Kittle also nudged his playing time further up (90%) and matched McCaffrey for the team lead in pass routes.
If you weren't already feeling fine about it, you can get back to comfortably starting Kittle on a weekly basis.
Week 9 holds a much more favorable matchup with the Giants. The Rams present a bigger challenge on the other side of that but also might drive up the passing volume.
