        Darnell Mooney Dumped By Falcons

The Falcons are planning to release WR Darnell Mooney, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Mooney was set to count $18.4 million against the salary cap in 2026. The Falcons will save $7.42 million with the move.

        2026 Fantasy Football Impact

Mooney was one of the least effective WRs in the NFL last season. He caught just 32 of 72 targets (44.4%) for 443 yards and one TD across 15 games.

Among 76 WRs with 50+ targets, Mooney ranked:

        • 68th in yards per target
        • 69th in yards per route
        • 76th in Pro Football Focus receiving grade

It's certainly worth noting that Mooney suffered a shoulder injury in late July that sidelined him for a month and cost him the season opener. He missed another game in October with a hamstring injury.

Mooney was much better back in 2024, posting a 64-992-5 line on 106 targets. He ranked top-37 among 89 qualifying WRs in yards per target, yards per route, and PFF grade that year. And he finished WR39 in PPR points per game.

Mooney is still just 28, so he's capable of bouncing back to fantasy relevancy in 2026. We'll see where he lands.
