Colts QB Daniel Jones has taken a step forward in his recovery, recently resuming dropbacks and throwing. The 28-year-old suffered a ruptured right Achilles tendon on December 28 and underwent surgery two days later.
What They're Saying
Here's HC Shane Steicen with more (via ESPN):
"He's done a hell of a job with his rehab. He's been tirelessly working at it. He's been in here every day, 8 to 3 o'clock. I know he's trying to hit certain landmarks, and he's on a good path with that."
"We've got to be smart with him, for sure... I know he's ripping and roaring and ready to go and all those things, but we've got to be smart."
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
Jones' current timeline suggests he has a chance to be ready for Week 1. Even so, it's hard to pencil him in for the surprising success he found in 2025.
We'll see how the 2026 NFL Draft unfolds, but Jones' supporting cast looks worse at this moment. Michael Pittman's departure removes a 21.6% target share -- plus 80 catches, 784 yards, and 7 TDs. Only Nick Westbrook-Ikhine arrived in free agency.
Indy also needs to replace long-time RT Braden Smith.
Mix in questions about Jones' rushing ability post-surgery, and the veteran sits well outside the top-12 of our fantasy football QB rankings.
