Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Texans TE Dalton Schultz (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday. There was no injury reported on him during or after the Week 1 win over the Colts, but his status now bears monitoring over the next couple of days. If Schultz can't play vs. the Bears on Sunday night, Houston would be down to TEs Brevin Jordan and Cade Stover. Neither would be a recommended fantasy play.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that TE Dalton Schultz has agreed to a three-year $36 million deal with the Texans, including $23.5 million "fully guaranteed at signing." That appears to lock Schultz in with the Texans for at least the next two years -- obviously good news for a TE who will turn 28 in July. Schultz isn't an exciting athlete even relative to his position and has yet to reach 11 yards per catch in an NFL season. But he has caught at least 57 passes in four straight years, averaging 3.8 or more per game in each. Schultz's 10.8 yards per reception last year marked a career high. And being tied to QB C.J. Stroud for the next 2-3 years is obviously a good thing. His re-signing means you can forget about any 2024 dreams you might have had for TE Brevin Jordan, who remains under contract with the Texans for one more year. Schultz has finished four consecutive campaigns among the top 10 TEs in total PPR points. He sits 15th among TEs in ADP for both Underdog Fantasy and FFPC drafting right now. That makes it a good time to get some Schultz on best ball rosters -- at least until/unless his ADP climbs.
Texans TE Dalton Schultz didn't post big numbers (4-58 receiving on 5 targets) in Sunday's OT win over the Titans. But he had a good day. His 34 routes tied for second on the team, found him on the field for 85.7% of Houston dropbacks and dominated No. 2 TE Brevin Jordan (7 routes, 17.5%). The game marked Schultz' return from two weeks down for a hamstring injury that knocked him out of the previous contest. The role could make him a key contributor in Week 16 against the Browns, who reached Week 15 as the third-best scoring matchup for TEs and third-worst for WRs. Schultz will push for a top-12 spot in our Week 16 TE rankings.
The forecast for today's Texans-Jets game calls for a near 100% chance of rain. Winds will be at 10-15 mph with potential gusts of 30+. Tough conditions for the passing and kicking games. This over/under has dropped from 38.5 to 33.0. The Texans are implied for only 18.0 points. Check out the updated projections for this game.
Texans TE Dalton Schultz (hamstring) is out for this weekend’s game vs. the Jets. He was limited in practice on Wednesday but sidelined on Thursday and Friday, so it looks like he suffered a setback. Brevin Jordan will again operate as Houston’s lead TE on Sunday after posting a 3-64-0 line on five targets last weekend.
Texans TE Dalton Schultz (hamstring) got in a limited practice on Wednesday. That gives him a chance to return for this weekend's game vs. the Jets. We'll track his progress over the next few days.
Texans TE Dalton Schultz (hamstring) missed practice all week and is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Broncos. His status for Week 14 and beyond is uncertain. Schultz’s absence leaves Houston with TEs Brevin Jordan and Eric Saubert. Jordan ran 19 pass routes to Saubert’s two last week and will likely operate as the primary pass-catching TE against Denver’s 27th-ranked TE defense. You can probably do better in season-long fantasy leagues, but Jordan is an intriguing salary-saver in DFS.
Texans TE Dalton Schultz (hamstring) remained sidelined on Thursday. He's seemingly in real danger of missing this weekend's game vs. the Broncos. Schultz's absence would leave Brevin Jordan as Houston's lead TE -- and likely push more targets to the WRs.
Texans TE Dalton Schultz (hamstring) did not practice on Wednesday. It's the first we've heard of the injury -- but might explain why his playing time plummeted in last week's loss to the Jaguars. We'll see if Schultz is able to get back on the field tomorrow. Brevin Jordan would likely operate as Houston's lead TE vs. Denver this weekend if Schultz is out.
Dalton Schultz has generally dominated playing time and opportunities among Texans TEs, but that wasn't the case in Sunday's loss to the Jaguars. TE Brevin Jordan set season highs in playing time and routes. According to Pro Football Focus, he ran a route on 19 of C.J. Stroud's 47 dropbacks (40.4%). Schultz's mere 47.8% route rate for the game was his second-lowest of the season. It also marked a surprising fall vs. the previous four games, all of which found Schultz running a route on more than 80% of dropbacks. We've seen no report of an injury for Schultz, so we'll keep watch for any explanation of the Week 12 variation. Barring some indication from the team that Schultz will return to his previous usage, he'll make for a shaky play against an improved Broncos defense in Week 13. Jordan, meanwhile, will need to see his usage climb much further before he'll be a fantasy option.
Texans TE Brevin Jordan is a healthy scratch for today’s game vs. the Giants. That leaves Houston with TEs O.J. Howard, Jordan Akins and Teagan Quitoriano. This remains a situation to avoid in Week 10 fantasy lineups.
Texans TE Brevin Jordan (ankle) is active for today’s game vs. the Raiders. He joins O.J. Howard and Jordan Akins in Houston’s TE corps.
Texans TE Brevin Jordan (ankle) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Raiders. He put in full practices on Thursday and Friday, though, so we’re expecting him to play. Jordan will join O.J. Howard and Jordan Akins in Houston’s TE corps.
Texans TE Brevin Jordan (ankle) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Jaguars. TE Pharaoh Brown was released earlier this week, so it’ll be O.J. Howard and Jordan Akins at TE on Sunday.
The Texans released TE Pharaoh Brown. He missed Week 4 with a shoulder injury but led Houston TEs in pass routes in Weeks 2 and 3. The Texans are now down to TE Brevin Jordan, who's missed the last 2 games with an ankle injury, TE O.J. Howard, who is coming off a 65% route rate and 14% target share this past week, and TE Jordan Akins. Howard is worth stashing in deeper fantasy leagues.
Texans TE Pharaoh Brown (shoulder) is inactive for today's game vs. the Chargers. With TE Brevin Jordan (ankle) also out, Houston is down to TEs Jordan Akins and O.J. Howard.
