Monday has delivered a slight range of outlooks on the return timeline for Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb. The wideout did suffer a high left ankle sprain in the first quarter of Sunday's loss to the Bears, and he's now expected to miss at least the next two games.
ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms that Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb has a high-ankle sprain and calls him "unlikely" to play vs. the Packers on Sunday night. "The Cowboys want to see how Lamb is doing the next 10-14 days before making further determinations about his status," Schefter adds. Lamb owners should consider themselves fortunate if he ends up missing just one game. We'd plan on being without Lamb for somewhere between 2-4 games. Dallas' bye isn't until Week 10.
Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb is believed to have a high-ankle sprain, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Lamb is undergoing additional tests on Monday to confirm that diagnosis. Both he and owner Jerry Jones downplayed the injury after Sunday's loss to the Bears. But high-ankle sprains typically cost skill-position players multiple games -- and impact their effectiveness beyond that. We'll look for more details on Lamb's status but would not be counting on him playing against the Packers on Sunday night.
Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb's ankle injury is not believed to be serious, owner Jerry Jones said after the Week 3 loss in Chicago. Lamb told reporters that he "absolutely" believes he can play in Week 4. Lamb briefly tried to return to the Bears game after spraining the ankle but was clearly not comfortable. He's scheduled for additional testing on Monday, so we should get another update on his status then.
Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb injured his left ankle in the first quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Bears. He got the ankle taped and remained on the sidelines but has not re-entered the game. Lamb is officially questionable to return. Stay tuned for updates on his status.
Update: Lamb returned for one play but wasn't comfortable on the ankle and headed back to the sidelines.
Update: Lamb has been ruled out.
Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb delivered a 7-110-0 receiving line in a Thursday night loss to the Eagles that found the rest of his pass offense contributing nearly nothing. Lamb's 13 targets marked a 38.3% share of QB Dak Prescott's 34 total pass attempts. His 7 catches accounted for 33.3% of the team's total, while the 110 receiving yards made for a 58.5% share.
Cowboys QB Dak Prescott was a “full participant in the team’s offseason program and is expected to carry those responsibilities into training camp,” per beat writer Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Recall that Dak last played in Week 9 of last season because of a hamstring tear.
Cowboys HC Brian Schottenheimer called the 2024 season a “fluke” for TE Jake Ferguson. The 26-year-old missed one game due to an MCL sprain and two with a concussion. He failed to score on any of his 59 catches.
Cowboys QB Dak Prescott said he’s “getting close to where I want to be” in his recovery from a torn right hamstring. "If I had to play a game today, I definitely could do that," Prescott added via ESPN. "It's about moving forward healthy to make sure I can play 17 times, 20 [games] -- whatever we get to when the time's right." Recall that Prescott needed surgery and was placed on IR following the Week 9 injury.
The Cowboys named Brian Schottenheimer their new HC. This will be the 51-year-old's first shot at a HC gig. He's spent 14 seasons as an OC, including the last two with Dallas. The 2023 Cowboys ranked first in points and fifth in total yards. Injuries, particularly to QB Dak Prescott, were a big reason Dallas sunk to 21st in points and 17th in yards this past year. "The sense around the league is that this is a Dak Prescott hire," ESPN's Jeremy Fowler said Friday night. "Dak Prescott likes Schottenheimer and the offensive chemistry they have together. He likes the continuity he brings. So it's kinda just running it back in a lot of ways." It's certainly not the most exciting hire, but it does make the range of outcomes on Dallas' offense in 2025 narrower. Prescott is a good bounce-back bet, while WR CeeDee Lamb should be a top-10 pick in 2025 fantasy drafts.
The Cowboys and HC Mike McCarthy are "parting ways," a team spokesman said. The two sides reportedly talked about a new deal but couldn't come to an agreement. So McCarthy becomes a coaching free agent after five seasons in Dallas. He went 49-35 with the Cowboys, making the playoffs in three of five years. McCarthy is expected to draw interest from multiple teams, including the Saints and Bears, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The Cowboys, meanwhile, join the list of teams that will have a new coaching staff in 2025. They have QB Dak Prescott and WR CeeDee Lamb signed through 2028
The Cowboys announced Thursday that WR CeeDee Lamb will miss the final two games of the season with his shoulder injury.
Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb caught six of seven targets for 100 yards in the first half before suffering a shoulder injury that knocked him for most of the game. He did return at points and had a catch on the Cowboys final drive taking his total for the day to 105 yards.
