Hunter Renfrow Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Panthers rookie WR Tetairoa McMillan delivered a solid first outing, especially when you consider how poorly his pass offense fared overall. McMillan led group in total snaps (53 of 64), routes (35 of 40), targets (9), receptions (5), and receiving yards (68). He accounted for 27.8% of the team's completions, 44.2% of the receiving yards, and 47.5% of the targeted air yards, according to NFL Next Gen Stats. McMillan was the only Panther to catch more than three passes and the only guy to exceed 32 receiving yards.

Panthers WR Jalen Coker was placed on Injured Reserve with a quad injury suffered in practice. He’ll miss at least the first four games. The team signed WR Hunter Renfrow in a corresponding move.

Panthers’ rookie WR Tetairoa McMillan is dealing with a minor hamstring injury, according to David Newton of ESPN.

Panthers WR Jalen Coker hasn't done much to stand out in camp so far, according to The Charlotte Observer's Mike Kaye. Tetairoa McMillan, Xavier Legette, and Adam Thielen have been running as Carolina's top three WRs. And Hunter Renfrow has out-played Coker, per Kaye.

The Panthers signed WR Hunter Renfrow. The 29-year-old was out of the league last year, seemingly by his own accord. He spent the previous five seasons with the Raiders, totaling 269 catches for 2,884 yards and 17 TDs. He caught 103 balls back in 2021 but combined for just 61 across 2022 and 2023.

Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers has been ruled out for Sunday's game in Buffalo. We'll see if he can make it back for Week 3 after his big opener. Meyers' absence would seem to present opportunity for WR Hunter Renfrow, but Renfrow played exactly as little (13 snaps, nine routes) as WR Kristian Wilkerson in Week 1. So we're not looking to get the veteran slot man into fantasy lineups this week. Here's hoping you don't need any Raiders WR beyond Davante Adams, who could be in for a huge target share this week.

Raiders QB Jimmy Garoppolo "was up-and-down early in camp but has been impressive of late," ESPN's Paul Gutierrez writes. Garoppolo also looked good in his 2023 preseason debut on Saturday night, completing all four of his passes for 39 yards on a 68-yard TD drive. He's still not an exciting fantasy option, but the improved play is good news for Vegas pass-catchers.

The Raiders will be signing WR Jakobi Meyers to a three-year, $33 million deal, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The pact will reportedly include $21 million in guaranteed money. This fit seems somewhat odd. Meyers does reunite with HC Josh McDaniels, who served as New England's OC for three of Meyers' four seasons there. But the 26-year-old (until Nov. 9) wideout joins an offense that already sports WR Davante Adams, TE Darren Waller, and WR Hunter Renfrow with annual average salaries over $10 million. Meyers also ran 64.5% of his routes with the Patriots from the slot, according to Pro Football Focus. That's also Renfrow's primary position (69.7% of career routes; 86% in 2022). We're assuming Meyers will be the second wideout (with Adams) in two-WR alignments, which will keep Renfrow's ceiling down. Meyers likely could have found more target share available elsewhere. It is, at least, a solid corps of receivers for new Raiders QB Jimmy Garoppolo. That said, we're not excited for the fantasy outlook on the QB, Meyers, or Renfrow.

Raiders QB Derek Carr went just 16 of 30 passing for 174 yards in Saturday night's loss to the Steelers. He threw just 1 TD pass -- to WR Hunter Renfrow -- and 3 INTs while taking 3 sacks. WR Davante Adams managed only 2 receptions for 15 yards on a team-high 9 targets. TE Darren Waller led Vegas with 58 receiving yards on 4 catches. Renfrow matched him with 4 receptions for 42 yards. The Raiders head back home to face a difficult 49ers defense in Week 17.

Raiders WR Hunter Renfrow (oblique) is active for today’s game vs. the Patriots. He came off IR and returned to practice this week. Renfrow has averaged just 4.8 targets, 3.5 catches and 32 yards across 6 games this season and isn’t a recommended Week 15 fantasy play.

Raiders TE Darren Waller (hamstring) and WR Hunter Renfrow (oblique) will be "full go" against the Patriots today, according to NFL Network. Both guys were designated to return from IR and returned to practice this week. Renfrow hasn't done enough in his 6 games this season to be an attractive fantasy play. Waller is worth considering as a lower-end TE1 with upside.

Raiders WR Hunter Renfrow (oblique) was activated, putting him on track to play vs. the Raiders on Sunday. He's been out since Week 9. Renfrow averaged just 4.8 targets, 3.5 catches and 32 yards across 6 games this season, so he’s not a recommended fantasy play.

The Raiders designated TE Darren Waller (hamstring) and WR Hunter Renfrow (oblique) to return from IR. Both guys will return to practice this week and are eligible to be activated for Sunday's game vs. the Patriots. Waller averaged 6.0 targets, 4.0 catches, 44 yards and .3 TDs over the first 4 weeks of the season, ranking 12th among TEs in half-PPR points during that stretch. Renfrow has played in 6 games so far this season and averaged 4.8 targets, 3.5 catches, 32 yards and 0 TDs. His half-PPR scoring average in those games lands him 102nd among WRs. We wouldn't use Renfrow in Week 15 fantasy lineups. Waller will be a risk/reward, low-end TE1 if he plays this weekend.

        2:35pm UTC 11/10/22

Raiders WR Hunter Renfrow has been placed on IR with an oblique injury. He'll miss at least the next 4 games, making Week 14 his earliest possible return. Renfrow has dealt with a few different injuries this season and averaged just 4.8 targets, 3.5 caches and 32 yards across 6 games. He's cuttable in all redraft leagues. Vegas will now be without Renfrow and TE Darren Waller for at least the next 4 weeks, which should push even more value to RB Josh Jacobs and WR Davante Adams. WR Mack Hollins and TE Foster Moreau should also get target boosts. Keelan Cole figures to take over as the #3 WR but isn't worth adding to fantasy rosters.
