Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Chargers WR Quentin Johnston managed just 2 catches for 30 yards in Sunday's loss to the Colts. That might make him seem a little left out from a game that included a career-high 420 passing yards from QB Justin Herbert. But Johnston got right back to his normal role after missing week 6 with a hamstring injury.
Chargers WR Quentin Johnston (hamstring) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Dolphins. We’ll see if he can make it back for Week 7. We’re expecting WR Tre Harris to step into something close to a full-time role today, although the rookie would be a flier in fantasy lineups. WRs Ladd McConkey and Keenan Allen gain target upside with Johnston out.
Chargers WR Quentin Johnston (hamstring) is "trending toward" missing today's game vs. the Dolphins, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Johnston was limited in practice all week, so this doesn't look like a multi-week injury. But he should be on fantasy benches for Week 6. Johnston has accounted for 22.0% of Chargers targets, 21.7% of catches, 32.0% of receiving yards, and 50.0% of receiving TDs through five weeks, so this is a big loss. Justin Herbert is moving a couple of spots down the Week 6 QB rankings but remains a solid start against a leaky Miami secondary. WRs Keenan Allen and Ladd McConkey should see more volume with Johnston out. Rookie WR Tre Harris has been operating as Los Angeles clear No. 4 WR the last four weeks and is the favorite to soak up most of Johnston's snaps today. He'd be a desperation start in season-long leagues but might be worth stashing in you have a bench spot to play with. Harris is also in play for daily tournament lineups.
The Chargers are placing RB Omarion Hampton on IR for the left ankle injury that knocked him out of Sunday's loss to the Commanders. That means Hampton will miss at least the next four games. We'll watch for further details on his expected return timeline.
It was a rough day for the Chargers' offense, but one of the few bright spots was WR Ladd McConkey. The beleaguered WR scored his first TD of the season and had another long punt return TD called back due to a roughing the punter call. This was McConkey's first TD since last year's Wild Card loss in Houston and helped mask what was an otherwise poor outing for Jim Harbaugh's squad, which has now lost back-to-back games after opening the season 3-0.
Chargers WR Ladd McConkey (biceps) is not listed on the final injury report for this weekend’s game vs. the Broncos. He sat out on Wednesday but put in full practices on Thursday and Friday, so he should be a full-go for this one. Despite the tough matchup, McConkey remains a rock-solid WR2 in Week 3 fantasy lineups.
Chargers WR Ladd McConkey (biceps) returned to a full practice on Thursday. That puts him in line to play vs. the Broncos this weekend. McConkey is off to a slow-ish start, sitting 34th among WRs in PPR points. But he's drawn a healthy 23.0% target share in an offense that looks like it'll produce plenty of passing volume. McConkey remains at least a solid weekly WR2 in fantasy lineups.
Chargers WR Ladd McConkey (biceps) did not practice on Wednesday. We don't have any other details on the situation. The Chargers played the late game on Monday night, so this could just be an early-week rest day for McConkey. We'll update his status again tomorrow.
Chargers QB Justin Herbert was excellent in Friday night's win over the Chiefs. He completed 25 of 34 passes (73.5%) for 318 yards (9.4 YPA), 3 TDs, and 0 INTs. Herbert's high-end arm talent was on display throughout the contest. And he reminded us that he's a plus athlete, running seven times for 32 yards. Herbert also had a 22-yard run called back by a holding penalty.
After dealing with an undisclosed injury, Chargers WR Ladd McConkey returned to practice on Friday, according to Daniel Popper of The Athletic.
Chargers LT Rashawn Slater was carted off the field with a leg injury on Thursday, and according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, suffered a ruptured patella tendon, ending his season.
Chargers WR Ladd McConkey remained sidelined for Thursday's practice, according to ESPN's Kris Rhim. McConkey hasn't practiced since July 28. We don't have any details on the injury, although OC Greg Roman said last weekend that it's "extremely minor."
The Athletic's Daniel Popper believes Chargers WR Quentin Johnston "is going to have to earn his roster spot in camp." Popper has Mike Williams and rookie Tre Harris projected to start on the outside, with Ladd McConkey in the slot.
Chargers WR Ladd McConkey (toe) is not listed on the final injury report after putting in a full practice on Friday. The toe isn’t a concern. The Chargers will have nothing to gain in Sunday’s game against the Raiders if the Steelers win on Saturday, though. We’ll wait on the result of that game and see what it might mean for McConkey’s playing time. WR Josh Palmer (foot) is out for Week 18.
Chargers WR Ladd McConkey (toe) returned to a limited practice on Thursday. That should have him on track to play vs. the Raiders this weekend, although it's worth noting that the Chargers will have nothing to gain in that one if the Steelers beat the Bengals on Saturday.
Chargers WR Ladd McConkey (toe) did not practice on Wednesday. He's coming off a big outing vs. the Patriots on Saturday and seemed to come out of that one healthy. We're tentatively expecting McConkey to play against the Raiders this weekend but will keep you updated on his status.
Chargers WR Ladd McConkey (knee, shoulder) is active for today’s game vs. the Buccaneers. He remained limited in practice all week and was listed as questionable, so there’s still some elevated risk here. But if you were waiting on McConkey, get him into fantasy lineups against Tampa Bay’s 24th-ranked WR defense.
The Chargers are "optimistic" that WR Ladd McConkey (knee, shoulder) will play against the Buccaneers today, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "The plan is for him to work out pregame," Rapoport adds. An active McConkey would be very tough to leave out of fantasy lineups against Tampa Bay's 24th-ranked WR defense. But we won't get the Chargers' inactives until a little before 3 pm ET. It'd be wise to have a late-game alternative rostered in case McConkey ends up inactive. Chargers WR Ladd McConkey (knee, shoulder) was limited in practice all week and is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game vs. the Buccaneers. It’s the same spot he was in last week before missing the Chiefs game. We’re more optimistic about McConkey’s chances of playing in this one, but we’ll look for further updates on his status. We won’t get the Chargers’ inactives until a little before 3 pm ET on Sunday.
Chargers WR Ladd McConkey (knee, shoulder) was limited in Wednesday's practice. He was limited all three days last week, so this doesn't tell us much about his status for Sunday's game vs. the Buccaneers. We'll see if he can progress to a full practice one of these next two days.
