Rachaad White, RB TB

9:55pm EDT 10/22/23

Rachaad White has solid PPR outing

Bucs RB Rachaad White managed just 34 scoreless yards on 13 carries in the Week 7 loss to the Falcons. But he was busy in the passing game, hauling in all six of his targets for 65 yards. He tied with WRs Mike Evans and Chris Godwin for the team lead in catches and ranked behind only those two WRs in receiving yards. White's six targets were a solid 14.3% share. And, although the rushing production wasn't big, White at least out-carried RB Ke'Shawn Vaughn 13 to 4. It's getting tough to expect the rushing efficiency to improve. But if White can at least maintain this type of workload share, he should be able to produce as a low-end RB2 in PPR leagues.

Buccaneers RB Chase Edmonds is having an MRI today on an MCL injury that knocked him out of Sunday's win over the Bears. Edmonds missing further time could only help rookie RB Sean Tucker, who already edged the vet in Week 1 playing time. Ke'Shawn Vaughn would likely find a role with Edmonds out as well. Rachaad White remained the clear lead back in Week 2.

Bucs rookie Sean Tucker is “a bit behind” the team’s other RBs in terms of learning the offense, per beat writer Scott Reynolds. Tucker missed the entire offseason program because of a heart issue, and for now, he appears no higher than fourth on the depth chart. Reynolds calls Ke’Shawn Vaughn the current No. 2 back behind Rachaad White, with Chase Edmonds “coming on strong" at camp.

Bucs OC Dave Canales called Ke'Shawn Vaughn his #2 RB. "He’s our two, and he’s a fantastic runner," Canales said on a recent podcast appearance. "Just quick feet in the hole, sturdy build. And he’s just got a real natural feel for it." Tampa signed RB Chase Edmonds to a 1-year, $1.2 million deal in free agency, but Vaughn will at least open training camp ahead of him on the depth chart. Vaughn has underwhelmed in limited opportunities through three NFL seasons, but any #2 RB is worth paying attention to -- especially a #2 RB behind an unproven starter in Rachaad White.
