Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Niners RB Christian McCaffrey might have been questionable entering the weekend, but you wouldn't have known it by the way the team used him in the victory over Seattle. McCaffrey rushed 22 times and caught nine of 10 targets Sunday. He led his nearest teammates by three targets and five catches. That workload helped prop up an inefficient day on the ground, where McCaffrey managed a mere 3.1 yards per carry. His 73 receiving yards marked a solid 8.1-yard average. McCaffrey wound up with the third-best PPR score among RBs for the week (pending Monday night) even without scoring a TD.
49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (calf) is active for today’s game vs. the Seahawks. He popped up on Thursday’s injury report as limited and officially did not practice on Friday. McCaffrey went through an extensive warmup on Friday, though, and didn’t sound concerned about his status afterward. Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer reported this morning that scans on McCaffrey’s calf came back “completely clean.” There’s still some additional risk here, but CMC belongs in Week 1 fantasy lineups. RB Jordan James (finger) is inactive today, leaving RBs Brian Robinson and Isaac Guerendo behind McCaffrey.
49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (calf) is listed as questionable for this weekend's game vs. the Seahawks. He was added to the injury report and limited in practice on Thursday and officially did not practice on Friday. McCaffrey was on the field going through warmups at the start of Friday's practice, though, and looked reasonably healthy. We'll surely get multiple updates on McCaffrey between now and kickoff on Sunday. Hopefully he's not a game-time decision, though, because 49ers-Seahawks doesn't kick off until 4:05 pm ET. McCaffrey's absence would leave Brian Robinson as San Francisco's lead back, although it's unclear exactly how big a role he'd be ready for after joining the team on August 22. RB Isaac Guerendo will also be available for the 'Niners, but RB Jordan James (finger) is doubtful.
49ers RB Christian McCaffrey was added to the injury report and limited in practice on Thursday with a calf. Not what we wanted to see after last year's Achilles fiasco. We don't have any other details on McCaffrey's situation right now -- how serious the calf issue is or whether it's related to last year's Achilles trouble. We'll update his status as soon as we learn more. No. 2 RB Brian Robinson Jr. should be rostered in all fantasy leagues, and even No. 3 RB Isaac Guerendo is worth stashing for now in many spots.
The 49ers' trade for RB Brian Robinson appeared to cloud the depth chart behind RB Christian McCaffrey. HC Kyle Shanahan cleared that right up after Sunday's preseason finale, calling Robinson the "two back."
After plenty of trade speculation, the Washington Commanders have traded RB Brian Robinson Jr. to the San Francisco 49ers, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
49ers’ second-string RB Isaac Guerendo returned to practice on Tuesday, according to Nick Wagoner of ESPN. Guerendo had been sidelined for multiple weeks with a shoulder injury.
San Francisco rookie RB Jordan James suffered a broken finger and will miss a few weeks, according to Matt Barrows of The Athletic.
49ers RB Isaac Guerendo is expected to miss "a few weeks" with a shoulder injury suffered in training camp, HC Kyle Shanahan said Monday. We're about a month away from the start of the regular season, so it sounds like Guerendo has a chance to be ready for Week 1. But we'll keep tabs on his status.
The 49ers selected Oregon RB Jordan James with the 147th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. James is one of the youngest players in the entire class. (He turned just 21 in March.) After splitting carries with Bucky Irving in 2023, James moved up to the 1A in the Oregon offense in 2024. The result: 1,267 yards and 15 TDs, good for 90.5 rushing yards per game and 1.07 TDs per game. His advanced metrics weren’t as rosy, though. Among 82 RBs with 150+ carries, James ranked 61st in yards after contact per attempt and 37th in Pro Football Focus Elusive Rating. Like most backs at Oregon, he’s shifty with great deep speed and receiving ability. He isn’t on the same level as Irving, but James has room to improve given his young age.
The 49ers are trading RB Jordan Mason to the Vikings, according to multiple reports. Mason is getting a two-year, $7 million deal with Minnesota that carries a max value of $12 million. The Niners are getting back just a 2026 sixth-rounder and a pick swap in this year's draft, according to NFL Network.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the 49ers have tendered RB Jordan Mason at the second-round level. That still leaves Mason open to sign with other teams, but any team that signs Mason would have to send San Francisco a second-round pick.
49ers RB Isaac Guerendo injured his left leg on the first drive of Sunday's game vs. the Cardinals. He was quickly ruled out for the rest of the game with knee and ankle injuries. We'll update Guerendo's status when we know more, but this looks like a serious injury.
49ers WR Deebo Samuel (rib, wrist) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Cardinals. Although he's had a disappointing season, Samuel has averaged 5.0 targets and 3.0 carries over the last five games. So his absence leaves extra opportunity for WRs Jauan Jennings and Ricky Pearsall and RB Isaac Guerendo.
49ers RB Isaac Guerendo (foot, hamstring) is not listed on the final Week 17 injury report. He was a full participant in Saturday's practice and seems ready to take back over as San Francisco's clear lead back in Monday night's game vs. the Lions. Guerendo checks in 17th in the Week 17 RB Rankings.
49ers RB Isaac Guerendo (foot, hamstring) got in a limited practice on Thursday. He seemingly has a chance to return for Monday night's game vs. the Lions. We'll keep you posted on his status over the next few days. Guerendo would be in the RB2 mix if he suits up against Detroit.
49ers RB Isaac Guerendo (foot, hamstring) did not practice all week and is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Dolphins. It sounds like it’s the hamstring that’s sidelining him. Guerendo’s absence leaves San Francisco down to RBs Patrick Taylor, Ke’Shawn Vaughn, and Israel Abanikanda. Taylor is the favorite for work, but it’s unclear exactly what this backfield will look like. It’s also a tough matchup against a Dolphins defense that’s limited opposing RBs to 2.8 yards per carry over the last five weeks. See where Taylor sits in the Week 16 RB Rankings.
